Top 7 Pfeiffer Movies

Note: Some may not be necessarily her best movies, they are just my personal favorite movies of Michelle Pfeiffer. So keep that in mind before sending your hate mails at [email protected]

7. One Fine Day

Not exactly a popular choice, but I consider this to one of my all time favorite movies of Pfeiffer. She just radiates in this movie in the most charming and charismatic way. The major criticism in the movie was that the scenes when Pfeiffer and Clooney were separated weren’t as interesting and believable (bringing down the town of the mayor subplot). But I don’t think that’s the point of the movie, to authentically show how to expose a corrupt mayor. Those were just part of the backdrop for the romance in the end of the film. The movie looks and is classy (especially compared to the other films of the genre), and genuinely charming. It’s an unsung gem. And I love the ending!

6. Love Field

Some people think this is a thankless role, but I strongly disagree. It’s a great part that shows off the general consensus that she is a character actress with movie star looks. Not everybody can play this part especially in the Hollywood A list actresses (Julia Roberts? Meg Ryan? Nicole Kidman?)

5. Frankie and Johnny

She proved that even though a lot of people thinks she’s too beautiful for the role, that she is more than capable for the part. Even her detractors agree she was very good in the movie. And I like the atmosphere of the film, it captures the loneliness of the major characters (especially Pfeiffer’s character who chose to experience life through watching movies) and some of the peripheral characters who didn’t even have a single line in the movie.

4. Batman Returns

An iconic role that she campaigned very hard to get. I miss that kind of passion Michelle Pfeiffer showed early in her career where she would campaign for roles she really want to play (like in Evita). This would probably be the role (together with Suzie Diamond) that 30 or 50 years from now people would remember. And she stole the movie from everyone!

3. The Age of Innocence

This is a masterpiece. A lot of people consider Goodfellas as Scorsese’s last truly great picture. But I think this movie deserves to be regarded in the same breath as his greatest movies. Pfeiffer and Day Lewis (one of my favorite actors) in one movie, how can anything be better than that? Oh and the ending was pitch perfect.

2. Married to the Mob

When I first saw this film I didn’t have an idea to what the movie was about. I was pleasantly surprised how engaging and good the movie was going to be. Even though Angela de Marco isn’t as popular as Suzie Diamond and Catwoman, this is one of Pfeiffer’s best roles.

1. The Fabulous Baker Boys

This is an easy choice. This would always be my favorite Pfeiffer movie. But of course I hope in the future she gets that one role that would surpass or at least equal Suzie Diamond. It’s just a great part for her, she gets to sings, she gets to be sexy, she gets to be dramatic and heartbreaking, she gets to be a bitch etc. All of those things in one movie.
