| The RAFI's are a top secret mathematical system that I began developing in 2002 to determine the top hitter and pitcher in each the National and American League. Over the years I've adjusted the system so that it might someday accurately predict the league MVP's and Cy Young's before they announce them so that we can take it all to Vegas and get rich. | The 2008 regular season is in the books and with that comes the 2008 RAFI Awards! The NL MVP goes to Ryan Howard. Howard benefited from batting right in the heart of a loaded Phillies line-up and this enabled him to edge out Lance Berkman and David Wright to take the crown. in the AL, Justin Morneau of the Twins put up consistent numbers all year long and in the end he takes home the hardware, denying A-Rod of back to back titles. Bobby Abreu somewhat surprisingly rounds out the top 3. For NL Cy Young, Tim Lincecum is 2008's version of 2007's Jake Peavy, totally dominating and winning the award hands down over Ryan Dempster and Johann Santana. And finally, in the AL, in a bit of a surprise, Roy Halladay captures the top slot over Cliff Lee. If Cliff Lee would have had 2 more K's on the season then he would have taken home the trophey. It doesn't get much closer than that. Dice-K happily secures the bronze. | |||||||||||||||||||||
