I don't know why I make such a big deal about this, but this was really the moment that made me say, "Now, this is the stuff that makes this show great." And that's why I started the Precious Moments page.
No, I had not been spoiled about Nuriko's death, even the episode title didn't have much effect on me (after all, folks, he *did* tell Miaka that his injuries weren't bad enough to kill him...*sniffle*...and I BELIEVED him...!).
When he actually died I was in shock, and my heart hurt when Tamahome and Miaka were crying over him, but the moment that stands out in my memory is of Miaka rubbing her thumbs over Nuriko's cheeks, saying "Open your eyes...".
Just a little thing like that, and you cannot tell me that Fushigi Yuugi is not extraordinary.
