The High School Reunion
8/15/2001
Just got back from my ten-year reunion up in Maine. I guess I expected something more spectacular  It was okay, but the only other people that showed up were the "A" crowd.  None of the friends I was hoping to see came to the reunion.  One thing is true about time, though: it softens the memory.  One of the more popular guys in school came up and asked me, "Why didn't you ever hang out with me in high school?"  And I answered, "Because you were on the football team and I was a geek.  You didn't hang out with me, honey."
It was a good evening in all, I didn't embarass myself and everyone seemed glad to see me.  And in the end, that's the most we can really hope for, isn't it?
These two are my roommates from college, Paola and Laura.  I am very lucky to have them as good friends; they are two of the best people I know.  They are in the Sigma Lambda Alpha sorority, and they are both very cool and fun to be with.  Laura is currently finishing her degree at UTSA, and she has already done an internship for a laboratory up in Cleveland.  I think she may go on to get her master's after she graduates.  Paola is doing a post-graduate internship for the U.S. Department of Agriculture (Paola, if I'm wrong on this please let me know) up in Washington, which shes says may become permanent since they already offered her a job.
