| My
name is Jay LeBlanc. I was born in Delcambree LA and grew up in
Abbeville LA, currently I live in Lafayette. I went to high
school at Vermillion Catholic in Abbeville. While at VC as well
as at my grade school I took religion as a subject every year untill
graduation as part of the required ciriculium. Also, once a week
all students attenting my highschool had to go to a mass or prayer
service which shortened our classes for the rest of the day by about 10
min per class. Also every year both schools would participate in
"catholic school's week", a nation wide celebration of catholic
schooling conducted by the nations catholic schools. |
Although
some things have changed since I attended these schools, for the
duration of the time I was there we did not get off of school on Martin
Luther King day as well as other national holidays. It was like
my school was a seperate community not intrested with national events
or with preparing its students for a college ciriculum. I wasted
four possible chances to take important classes like drafting and
advanced calculus so I could sit in a class room and listen to a
teacher lecture on what she believed about her religion. As a
result of this style of schooling I am currently in my first computer
class and
this is my first web page, enjoy. |
