Wow, in the final issue of 'The Hunted' storyline, there are tons of loose ends that will keep you pondering for weeks until issue #167!
We see Logan in a familiar situation -- back at the Weapon X Lab!!! After his rescue, by Sabretooth of all people, The Director (the leader of the new Weapon X ressurgence) has Wolvie strapped down tight as he explains who he is and offer his options to Logan.
It all started back at the original Weapon X Lab where The Director was a soldier guarding the outside premisis when an uncontrollable test subject named Logan, hacked and slashed at his body before fleeing into the woods. Miraculously surviving, The Director (without reconstructive surgery to repair the damage done) , rebuilt Weapon X in hopes of helping mutants and humans with disfigurements and unordinary traits that differ themselves from the norm.
By searching the Weapon X grounds, they found Wolverine's original memory implants and reactivated them forcing Logan to help The Director get rid of the original X Program members. With Logan being recruted, Sabretooth was next. Creed's mission was to seek out John Wraith and Maverick and bring them back into the fold. After Maverick resists, the two engage in an awesome fight. Due to the Weapon X programs "touch ups", he makes short work of Maverick and leaves him along with Wraith for dead mentioning that he has other plans in mind -- and that Weapon X doesn't have him totally under control.
Wolvie who resists joining is about to be subjected to more memory implants when the Shiver Man appears and rescues our favorite mutant after being asked by Nick Fury to follow S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Agent Jackson (The Director's "right hand man").. Logan takes care of the army of reinforcements as The Shiver Man rescues the Beast.
The "self destruct" sequence is initiated as Sabretooth is transported from his battle with Mav' & Wraith to the X compound to stop our heroes from escaping. Creed and Logan have a quick tussle as Creed undoubtedly has the advantage. The Shiver Man allows Logan and Beast to escape while he tests himself against Sabretooth. The compound soon explodes but The Director & Agent Jackson escape.
But who died? Sabretooth, John Wraith or Maverick?? |
