Interviews
Q. How you feeling, first of all?
IVANISEVIC: It's much better, still a
little dizzy, but it's okay.
Q. Man, it was hot out there.
IVANISEVIC: It was.
Q. And I wasn't even playing.
IVANISEVIC: I know.
Q. Goran, did you feel bad before the match,
or just different?
IVANISEVIC: No. I started to feel bad
middle of the second set. But I thought it's just going
to pass or something. But I couldn't walk anymore. It
was really bad. And then I called the trainer. And --
but was just luck, you know. Still the angels on my side.
Q. Still, huh?
IVANISEVIC: Still.
Q. Eight matches in a row.
IVANISEVIC: Yeah.
Q. How close were you to not being able to
finish?
IVANISEVIC: I would play, you know, I
wouldn't stop. But just, you know, it's no fun, you know, when you cannot walk. I could hardly serve, first and
second serve were huge, and I was hoping they were going
to go in. His one mistake, I thought maybe if I got to
the tiebreaker he'll get tight and I have a chance. I
felt good in the tiebreak.
Q. When you aced that last point, how did
you feel?
IVANISEVIC: Actually, I would go for
both first serve. If I miss that one, I go for another
one, because I couldn't walk. I just didn't know where to
serve. I was thinking it would be nice, one more ace. So
it happened.
Q. How do you think you'll be tomorrow to
play with Boris?
IVANISEVIC: It's a great honor for me
that he asked me to play. You know, he's one of the best
player ever; and one of my favorite player ever. And it's
going to be great. You know, he's a really nice guy, and
a great tennis player. It will be fun to play.
Q. You think you'll be okay to play?
IVANISEVIC: Yeah, yeah, I'll be okay.
Q. And two Wimbledon champions, too.
IVANISEVIC: One of the toughest team on
the tour, so ...
Q. Oh, you noticed that?
IVANISEVIC: Yeah.
Q. Physically, what's the best thing for you
to do to be prepared to play tomorrow, to be full speed,
one hundred percent?
IVANISEVIC: After drinking water, and
just to relax, and know it's okay. I mean, this never
happened to me. But I think I'm going to be fine.
Q. I was about to ask, is that the worst
you've ever felt on the court during a match?
IVANISEVIC: Yes. When you want to throw
up and you cannot, you're just spitting, you cannot drink
because you can't take any more fluids inside you, it's
just so, so bad. And you can't walk. Can't help it, it
just strikes you. And then you have to pray that
something good happen.
Q. Are these the worst kind of heat
conditions you've played in before?
IVANISEVIC: I've played a couple of
times here before, and in Indianapolis it was hot. But I
never -- because I have not too much hair, you know, and I
don't play with a hat. So that is why. Who knows.
Q. So you were not able to throw up when you
were out there, huh?
IVANISEVIC: I was spitting a lot. Like
not throwing up, but spitting. It would be easy if I can
throw up, because then -- this was worse, that I couldn't
throw up.
Right, the disclaimer. The interviews do not belong to me and are not being used for any form of profit on my behalf. Just to feed our craving for Goran.
