Robotics
The first robot team I was on at UofM went to Raleigh, NC. The objective was to navigate a 4'x8' playing field picking up metal balls and deposite them in a
PVC tube at one end (a basketball type game). The team fell apart and we had no real entry. Word of advice, don't wait for the hardware team before you start coding..
The second robot I worked on went to Blacksburg, VA. This robot was near completion but again I was left with only 1 week to program the robot due to hardware team non work. I decided that I would do it all the next time (if there was a next time).
The third robot I worked on we named MANI (an acronym for something or other) that competed in Orlando. We took 5th. Check out the story here: MANI.
Next one was Prodigy Jr. for the Kentucky competition. I wanted a tracked vehicle so I got some excellent help from the machine shop guys. This robot was really a solo project
as no one else had time to work on it. Kentucky.
Check out our progress on IEEE Southeast Con '99 playing field.
Most recently I was the advisor for the hardware team in 2003. The competition was held in Jamaica and I believe we placed 6th out of 26. Don't let the numbers fool you,
our performance was a big disappointment compared to how it performed in the lab. Oh well. Jamaica.
