ay Corre
is an internationally known composer, arranger, jazz educator and performer who grew up
in Atlantic City, NJ. Jay (Lischin) Corre's interest in music began at 5 years old, when he started to
experiment with various instruments, including the harmonica, violin and clarinet. He picked up the sax at age 14 and showed a natural ability for this instrument.
By the time he was 16 he was playing dates at various clubs of yore, that made the shore area a virtual hot bed of fine jazz entertainment.
He completed the very thorough music studies given at the Atlantic City High School and played with the legendary Alex Bartha Orchestra
on Steel Pier, the pinnacle of musical achievement in Atlantic City....He then did a stint in the US Navy Band and after his discharge joined the acclaimed
Raymond
Scott Orchestra, featuring Dorothy Collins.
