Time Slip

From here on in, I'll let it go
Everything I yearn, everything I know.
It hurts to know I've been the fool
But it doesn't matter anymore
Because it's not too late to change.
I can grow from this,
I know I can.
And someday when I've grown,
When I've come to my senses,
I'll look back on everything now...
And I know I'll smile,
Because it happened.
I will not cry, nor will I feel sad,
There won't be any frown on my face,
And not a trace of regret,
Because everything will be just a fond memory...
A reminder of what little we shared,
And what lessons I learned.
The burning scars and bitter-sweet anguish will be gone,
Replaced by a fond memory born.
I won't give in to any sadness, I will rejoice
Because I'll have gained, not lost.
In the end, all that is painful now
Will become nothing but a reason to smile.
There's yet a long, long way to travel...
And he road ahead looks treacherous,
Twisted,
Painful.
But I'll travel slowly, ever so slowly,
One footstep at a time,
One day at a time,
Knowing moment by moment that someday this will be
Nothing but a sweet memory.
And though my heart breaks at the thought of it now,
Though my soul aches to cling to the jagged shards,
I know somehow, someday, some way
I'll get there in my own time...
