* Managed all aspects of the installation of $10M-$20M new,
large computer resources each year without the need for additional space or any
effect on R&D development activities or schedules. This included: determined
specifications, coordinated space, power, air conditioning, networking, negotiated
with suppliers, ordered equipment, deployed prototype and released hardware, prepared engineering drawings for the layout of computer systems,
peripherals and infrastructure equipment into software R&D test and development
environments.
* Put processes in place to remove/re-deploy equipment saving
space and $300,000 annually.
* Initiated and managed a $860,000 per year outsourcing contract
for Move/Ad/Change activities which improved service levels and reduced costs
by $500,000 per year.
* Developed and deployed a web site for the dissemination of
planning and scheduling information to the R&D community to improve organizational
communications.
* Built and coached a team of 15 engineers and technicians who produced outstanding results in software testing, equipment ordering, asset tracking, and computer system maintenance. Resulting in our continually expanding charter from supporting one R&D lab to eventually supporting seven R&D labs. With a customer satisfaction survey return rate of 70% achieved an extremely satisfied ranking on 70-90%.
* Reduced a $3.6M Budget for computer room resources and their
associated infrastructure, space utilization, moves, installs, and changes to
software R&D computer environments by 10% per year for three years ($2.6M)
without effecting service levels.
* Achieved 98% customer satisfaction providing support for
the installation and maintenance of 5000 large UNIX server computer systems, peripherals
and the related infrastructure in seven UNIX R&D software development and
testing labs.
* Developed standardized life cycle documentation templates to increase the quality and reduce the time required in generating documentation by 30% and costs by 10%.
* Developed and deployed a web site for the management of testing
resources and displaying test results information to the R&D community this
reduced defect resolution times from weeks to days.
* Identified and then cleared software defects during final UNIX testing
prior to product shipment. By organizing,
planning, and systematically tracking all defects accelerated final system validation
and shipped on schedule the final product to protect critical business objectives.
Established a process of early testing, which prevented last-minute surprises
and shipment delays.
* Accelerated complete automatic regression testing reducing
time from four weeks to 24 Hrs and time required for reliability testing from
120 Hrs to 72 Hrs.
* Established division-wide quality standards for new products,
mentored teams in meeting quality goals through the use of bench checks and code
inspections, resulting in drastic reduction in defects.
