Meditation
Meditation is something very personal in my opinion, though
ofcourse you can learn a lot from teachers and whatnot. Sure there are a
number of ways you can meditate and a number of things which are standard
affair, but that’s hardly what makes the meditative process the enlightenment
that it is. Below is a set of notes thrown together about meditative practices
I’ve adopted and used to some success…enjoy…

Meditation Uses: Countless
number…health, peace, power, understanding, refuge, love My setup: Silence is good Music/sounds work well – depends on type of meditation you are about to undertake….in general, heavy chanting, repetitive deep noise for meditating when under stress/solving dilemma. If meditating out of love, peace or achieving transcendence, slow, soft repetitive rhythms or chants or ambient sounds. If meditating for imagery/visions or understanding, solo wind instrument, soft empty sounds fading in and out at random. Scary/haunting music for extreme, ‘trips’ in the mind. Do not use: music which you do not associate with great power/magic/significance (e.g. AC/DC) Led zeppelin works for me though but in general avoid music with lyrics (they catch your attention) unless they are lyrics you do not understand. Avoid music with lots of breaks and starts and random noises which might break your attention. Environment: preferably alone (Note: never achieved good level of meditation with another person present; it’s a hard skill to fully ignore the presence of another). Pitch dark works as does soft lighting (any lighting which puts You in the mood works). Sit or lie down in comfortable position – MAKE SURE HEAD/NECK AND BACK ARE COMFORTABLE AT ALL TIMES. (its okay to shift around while in a trance state – you can easily switch between semi-trance and deep trance state) The meditative process: 1: concentrate on single thought/ image in head. 2: concentrate on clearing all thoughts in mind. 3: concentrate on single real object (preferably held or at eye-level). 4: concentrate on working out a problem through chains of reasoning. 5: concentrate on image/environment formation (story-line process). BE CREATIVE Things I have achieved through meditation: - I have laid down on an iceberg and gone over the edge of the world. - I have flown in a void. - I have felt my whole body energized with phenomenal energy (injured back in the process) - Become one with everything - Slept peacefully. - Learnt to forgive everyone and everything - Solved numerous life issues (come to understand them so they do not affect me) - Relieved stress/headaches - Explored the meaning of life - Felt my body functioning (each part individually). - Connected with people on a level I cant describe There is little I can say for what happens during the meditative stages…Try it: my only advice. My average session: no standard – 1 minute to 2 hours. NOTE: The meditative process is possible anywhere at anytime…the above was just an ideal situation for getting results. I meditate all the time in my mind – while I am walking, while I am in the company of others, while I am eating. Impossible to meditate while reading or watching TV. Have faith and reject thoughts of skepticism as they enter your mind (they may be doing so even now). |
