GAME PLAY
"Born Lucky" was shot on-location in malls across the country. Host Bob Goen selected four people from the crowd. Each competed in a game for "Mall Money" Each game was worth up to $100. Games included matching magazine covers with their years, naming neighbors of famous television characters, etc. Winners of games also got to pick a prize from several mystery choices. After all four competed, the two highest scorers went on to the next round. In the event of a tie, each player selected an envelope and the player with the most "Mall Money" in their envelope went on.
In the second round, the "Challenge Round" players now bid against each other on a stunt. Stunts for this round included flipping eggs into a pan, catapulting boxes in a barrel, etc. Players bid back and forth how much they could do until someone reached the maximum or was challenged by the opponent. They had sixty seconds to perform the task. If successful in filling their bid, they won the round and went to the bonus. If they failed, their opponent went on.
In the bonus round, the player had to accomplish five tasks all with the same theme in a minute and a half. They could pass one game and pass only once. If they accomplished all five, they won $2,000. If they failed, they won $100 for each one.
NOTES
This was Bob Goen's last game show. Previously he had hosted the "Hollywood Game", "Perfect Match", "Blackout", "Home Shopping Game" and "Wheel of Fortune."
The first week was shot at the Galleria in Tyler, California.
MY THOUGHTS
This ranks right up there with "Shop 'til you Drop." Bob does his best with what's he given, and the music is pretty decent, but the rest is bad. $2,000 top prize? And you'd think Bob couldn't do worse in the money department after CBS' "Wheel"...

And the prizes for winning a stunt are pretty awful. Jewelry from a company called Imposters?
