Whoever lives at 8884 Shell Island Drive(first residence on the left when entering the community)has been and keeps parking a Honda Civic in the grass right in front of the stop sign. Arent we supposed to tow vehicles parked in this manner? I know I am not the only one to see it, it is the first thing you see when entering and last thing you see when leaveing...

Has anyone noticed mud in their water lines? Our Culligan man told us we had dirt in the lines. I also found dirt in our sinks when I pulled th stoppers out to clean out the drain. Could this be a major problem? P.S. the word verification is not readable most of the time and I get kicked out.

There is a silver Jetta always parked in front of their empty driveway at 2387 White Sands right in front of the intersection with Shell Island. I almost collided with another car as I was turning right from Shell Island onto White Sands. A car entering the subdivision came over in my line of traffic trying to get around the Jetta to turn right on Shell Island. It is a hazard for the Jetta to park on the street instead of in their own driveway. I am going to mention something to the cop that patrols the next time I see one here. Just wanted to post it here as well.

I hope whoever lives at 8861 Shell Island Drive reads this. If your 4 door silver Ford F-150 doesnt fit in the drive and sticks out in the street you need to figure out another way to park!!

Just an FYI- I contacted the city via email regarding revised stormwater bills and refunds. They replied back & informed me that the revised bills & refunds are being worked on they expect them to start going out sometime this month. I have been waiting on my revised bill & just thought some of you all may be in the same boat.

There is a black, orange and white cat with a heart name tag that says "Calico sweeheart" or something close to that(She won't let me look at it for long) hanging out on Shell Island Drive; she may be pregnant, or just fat. Someone needs to claim her before she either gets ran over or before Animal Control picks her up.

For the past two weekends, there has been an obnoxious person blaring his music in a black car (Honda, I believe) at 5:00 AM on either Saturday or Sunday mornings! He drives by slowly and then guns his engine, all the while, his music can clearly be heard (Spanish songs), even with the windows in our condo closed!! He needs to be stopped. I would have called the police, but I kept thinking he was going to leave; the next time I will call at first sight or when I first "hear" his music. He comes in from the main entrance and drives around the plat. If anyone knows who this person is, or a plate number, let me know so I can let the police know. Thanks!

I think that it is truly pathetic that people in our community have nothing better to do with their time than nit pick at every little thing others are doing or not doing in our community. Whether it be complaining of noise/music throughout the day (what are you doing home during the day anyways) to where people are parking their cars, it never stops. Please keep in mind that this is our home and we don’t need others telling or trying to dictate the way we live our lives in our own homes. We all knew what we were getting into when we purchased a “townhome” connected to others so if noise and such is such a concern to you maybe you should have thought twice before buying you’re your home in Villages of Summer Lakes.

I suppose the person who wrote on 11-06-08 is one of the ones who is loud! Yes, we live in a community in close proximity. NO, we do NOT have to put up with loud music, partying at all hours of the day and night, or parking where parking is prohibited! THAT is what is pathetic. The people who think they can be as loud as they want and as inconsiderate of others are the ones who should not have moved into a neighborhood with connecting homes. They should have respect for others; they do NOT have the right to disrupt the lives of others and they WILL not in our community.

Yes, we all live in close proximity to eachother. We are a family community. Just because you live in a townhome does not mean you have the right to disrespect the people around you. Treat people the way you would like to be treated. We all paid good money to live in a nice safe community, not a college campus. I am certain people are going to have birthday parties, football gatherings, or maybe just a get together with friends. I'm sure of it beacause I have had at least one of each over the years. However, it is important to be considerate of those around you, your neighbors, and the property in the community. I don't know if it helps but I usually let my neighbors know when I am having people over & usually invite them as well. I also tell them to please let me know if we become loud or inconsiderate. Granted, I haven't had people over in awhile but I find that if you just talk to your neighbors, be respectful, & act responsibly that people typically aren't going to have a problem. Just because you are having people over doesn't mean its ok to blare your music so it can be heard 3 streets over. That is obviously rude and uncalled for. They have night clubs for that. Also, I live on Shell Island. 5 am is too late/early for loud music period. If you need to listen to your music that loud please wait until you are away from the homes to do so. There are a lot of young families in our neighborhood with small children & babies. I personally don't know what that is like but I am certain it is not fun putting a baby back to sleep after you have already been up all night trying to do so. As far as the parking its going to happen from time to time. If you are going to have guests who are going to be over please remind them that we have parking pads located at the end of each unit & to please utilize them. Or if you don't want your guests to park there maybe you can put your car there and let them park in the drive way. Needless to say these are the community rules. Please do your best to respect them & to keep your guests from parking on your neighbors lawn. You the homeowner pay for broken sprinkler heads not our HOA. Lastly, as for the comment made 11/6. Like I said, there are lots of young families with stay at home mom's, grandmothers, and retired couples. They have worked & done their part. They should be able to enjoy the day & feel safe in their own homes. When you moved in the community you signed your HOA agreement saying the you understood the rules & guidelines. If you are a renter your landlords should have/did educate you/show you this information. Just because people pay attention to what goes on in their community does not mean the have no lives. I worked 2 jobs up to about a month ago, now I'm back to one & I still pay attention. I care about where I live, my safety, & I respect my neighbors & those around me. I also care a great deal about the appearance of our community. I have to live here too. So to those of you who have posted. Please don't take offense. Just try to practice a little patience & common sense. Treat others the way you would like to be treated. If you have a concern speak to your neighbor in a kind respectful manner. Or maybe post your name instead of being anonymous. Its pretty hard to solve a problem when you don't know where it is coming from. Take care & Happy Holidays --Becky Brothers <mailto:[email protected]>

Also, I just want to urge ALL HOMEOWNERS to attend our HOA meetings so you can participate in your community. I go. I like them for the most part.

Stop sign at Shell Island and White Sands Dr.
2008-12-16 23:39:24 GMT
Its a death trap waiting to happen. I drive down white sands every day and lost count of the total times people turning off Shell Island onto White Sands fail to stop at the stop sign. I am not talking rolling stops either, people don't stop at all. I have kids in my car, wearing seat belts, but that doesn't mean they should have to be tested serveral times a week in a neighborhood that enforces a 30mph limit, and has stop signs. I have had it. I have watched pedestrians try and cross at that stop sign, myself included, to walk up the exit of the community and have to abruptly stop for cars ignoring the stop sign. I took it upon myself to sit outside my house, that is in direct view of this intersection on 2 seperate ocassions. Thursday Dec 4 from 7:15am to 7:45 am Out of the 57 cars that turned off Shell Island onto White sands, only 6 stopped at the stop sign. Tuesday Dec 9 from 5:15pm to 5:45pm Out of the 18 cars that turned off Shell Island onto White sands, only 4 stopped at the stop sign. I was almost hit today, again, driving my kids to school, and the person driving off Shell Island, didn't have turn signal, didn't stop at stop sign, and even after I slammed on my brakes(which made noise) and honked my horn, did they even ecknowledge that they had done anything wrong or illegal. What is it going to take for a speed bump to be put in, or a officer to sit at that intersection and give out REAL tickets. On city streets, you don't get warnings, and in residential neighborhoods, laws and tickets shouldn't be getting forgone for warnings. People don't learn and don't care about laws, if you don't enforce them. There is no need for my information or to want to contact me, see it for yourself. Stand near that corner just for even 10 minutes, its blatent, it obvious.

As a dog owner and lover myself, I hate to complain about others. However when you tie your dog up on your back lanai and let them bark constantly for hours at a time, there has to be a something done about this. All I am asking, is please do not tie your dog up and leave them unattended for long periods at a time. I understand they need to be outside so here is a suggestion: Take it for a walk. This noise causes us to restrain from having our windows open to enjoy the beautiful weather outside and cut on JEA costs. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be courteous to others and try to control your pets noise levels. Last, with the holidays we all have company at our homes, maybe even company that are coming to our homes for the first times (exciting for new home owners) hearing other residents dog barking constantly does not help someone on vacation to relax and enjoy their time spent with you...

Regarding the posting about the stop sign at White Sands and Shell Island - I too live on White Sands near the intersection and have experienced the very same things that you talk about above. Every morning that I leave for work I wonder if someone is going to run into my car because they fail to stop, they fail to even look to the left before taking the right onto White Sands. So many times, even though I have the right of way, I have had to slam my breaks on to keep from being hit. I have also seen so many cars drive through the stop sign and then stop in the middle of the road on White Sands just because they failed to stop at the sign and did not look to see if a car was coming before turning. Something must be done. We have been very fortunate so far that there hasn't been an accident but we are very unfortunate that our neighborhood streets have become dangerous because drivers are not following basic driving rules.

Last weekend the house on the corner of White Sands Drive and Shell Island Drive had a LOUD party in the streets until 4:00 A.M. Be forewarned, the police WILL be called the next time. How can anyone be SO inconsiderate of all the people around them??? You're not living on a farm out in nowhere land; you live in a civilized community. Their are noise ordinances; if we have to call the police every time this happens, we will have no other choice.

Is there any way to get the sprinklers adjusted with the day light savings? I realise it might be hard to do, but its only twice a year it happens. I have not particularly enjoyed going to work soaked smelling like well water due to not being able to walk out of my house, or get in either side of my car without sprinklers pointing right at me.
