“Nobody leaves…I like that,” Brenda says softly as Jax cups her face. “Brenda, you have changed my life and there is no way I am going to let anything get in our way,” Jax says brushing his lips against her forehead. “You are the most perfect person I have ever met,” Brenda responds hugging him tightly with tears in her eyes. “Ditto,” Jax says holding her with his own blue eyes watering. Brenda sniffles as she pulls away and whispers, “You know Lois and Ned are getting married in a couple of days and I should be helping them out and I have dance class tomorrow morning.”

“I have to go back to our house anyway because I am expecting a call from Jerry…I think he and Julia will be on their honeymoon forever,” Jax says chuckling. “I got a postcard from Julia from the Orient the other day,” Brenda says shaking her head in amusement. “And I received one from Jerry that said he was in Moscow,” Jax responds with a grin. “They are perfect for each other,” Brenda says collapsing onto her bed in exhaustion. “Go to bed sweetie and I will see you tomorrow,” Jax says kissing her lips lightly. “Night…I love you,” Brenda whispers. “And I love you,” Jax says closing her door quietly. She smiles…everything was perfect between them again.

“Miss Barrett, toes more pointed!” Mademoiselle Alexandra yells as Brenda straightens up her form and strains to get up higher on her toes. Brenda turns furiously against the floor, trying to impress her teacher as much as she could muster. "Better Miss Barrett,” Mademoiselle exclaims and clapping her hands in delight.

Brenda tries to hold back a smile but she never saw her teacher this happy. “Okay students…stop…I have some important news!” Brenda’s teacher says as the girls gather around her. Mademoiselle begins, “I have seen very few students who have come so far and have a very good chance at dancing for the rest of their lifetime and I can now say it about Miss Brenda Barrett.” Brenda chokes, “What do you mean?” Her teacher smiles and responds, “The most famous Dance Company in the world in France has accepted you into their program Brenda.” Brenda’s eyes well with tears and she whispers, “Are you serious?” “Yes, they saw your performance in New York City and adored it,” Mademoiselle Alexandra says. “Wow…” Brenda says with her voice trailing off.

2 days later…

Lois’s cheeks glow as she walks down the aisle with her dimples deepened. Brenda looks into the crowd and sees Jax smiling at her. She still had not told him about the offer…it would break his heart and she was not even sure if she wanted to go yet.

Brenda sits through the service as Ned and Lois recites their vows while never taking their eyes off each other. While Lois is saying that she will take Ned in sickness and in health, she shouts. “Whoa!” Lois says. “Honey, what is the matter?” Ned asks anxiously. “The baby kicked!” Lois says smiling and the guests laugh in appreciation at Lois’s heavy Brooklyn accent. “Shall we continue?” the priest asks pleasantly. “You go right ahead Father!” Lois says snapping her fingers. The priest almost chokes and Lois’s eyes bulge open. The priest clears his throat and says, “I think we are all ready now.” And with that Ned and Lois finished saying their vows.

“You may kiss the bride,” the priest says as Ned gets a devilish grin on his face. And with that Lois was dipped to the ground as Ned kisses her lips tenderly.

“So Miss Barrett, wanna go to Vegas?” Jax asks with a chuckle as they dance outside at the Quartemaine estate. “Anytime you want,” Brenda replies with a laugh. She places her head against his shoulder and sees Lois and Ned gazing dreamily into each other’s eyes. She and Jax could be like that one day until this whole dance thing got in the way.

“You do not have to go…” echoes in her head. “But I want to,” Brenda thinks silently to herself as Jax nuzzles his nose in her hair. “You are so beautiful,” Jax says quietly. Brenda pulls back and looks into his eyes…they were full of so much warmth and love. She could not imagine her life without him anymore and they were going to live together. “Jax, there is something I need…” Brenda says before she feels Lois tugging at her arm. “Bren, pictures…now!” Lois yells pulling Brenda out of Jax’s embrace. “Tell me later,” Jax says smiling. Brenda nods uncomfortably and watches as Jax chats with Edward Quartemaine.

Brenda tries to smile as the photos were being taken. She had to tell him but how could she. So much of her knew this was a chance of a lifetime and the only way she had a real future as a dancer but she had also found the love of her life only six months ago and she was not about to let that go. “Hey pretty brunette with the mole…this is a wedding, not a funeral,” the photographer says and Lois bursts out laughing. “Smile Barrett!” Lois says. Brenda flashes a dazzling grin as the picture is shot.

“And this will be the final dance for Ned and Lois before they take off to Cancun,” the DJ says smiling. Lois and Ned had changed and they looked radiant. Brenda giggles when she hears the tune come on. It was the song that had played at the diner on Lois and Ned’s first date. Ned twirls Lois around and she laughs in delight.

Well, he walked up to me and he asked me if
I wanted to dance.

He looked kinda nice and so I said I might take a chance.

Each time I saw him I couldn't wait to see him again.

I knew that he was mine so I gave him all the love that I had

I felt so happy I almost cried

The guests form an archway as white rose petals are thrown along with rice and Ned and Lois run through. Lois waves and turns her back to throw her bouquet. Brenda laughs as Lois shakes and tosses it. Before Brenda knew it, the flowers were sitting bound in her hands. Lois cries out in joy and she screams, “You’re next Barrett!” Brenda laughs and feels Jax’s arms encircle around her waist. “Guess we are going to Vegas,” Jax whispers. Brenda gives a nervous giggle and turns to his face. “I guess so,” Brenda says shrugging her shoulders. “You do not sound too enthusiastic,” Jax says holding her shoulders with concern. “Can we get out of here and go to your house?” Brenda asks. “Of course…let’s go,” Jax says ushering her out.

“Well here we are,” Jax says flipping on the lights. “Thank goodness, it was a little overwhelming there,” Brenda says sitting on the couch. “Is that the reason you wanted to leave or was it something more important?” Jax asks cupping her face in his hands gently. “I love you so much,” Brenda says looking down. “Then why do I get the feeling I am not going to like what you have to say?” Jax asks in confusion.

“I was in dance class the other day and something happened…” Brenda begins taking in a deep breath. “What?” Jax asks. “I was accepted into a very prestigious dance academy,” Brenda says. “Bren, that is wonderful…why do you look like your best friend just died then?” Jax asks.

“Jax, this dance institute is the best in the world,” Brenda says. “Wait…I had an ex-girlfriend who went there…it’s in France,” Jax says with his voice trailing off. Brenda feels her eyes welling in her eyes and she whispers, “Yes it is and they want me to leave in one week…”
