Hey all!!
Been a LONG while, I know! First let me say, this fic is going to be
REALLY, REALLY short. Second, I got the idea from a
few scoops/rumors that I stumbled across the other day. This is my
version of how to write Jax off the GH screen with
circumstances as they currently are with a few of my own wishes thrown
in. Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think!!!!
Hugs,
Sydney

~ chapter 1 ~
He stood there trying his hardest to remember what he was doing there.
What purpose had brought him to this dungeon. This
prison. This place of hopelessness. This place of utter, complete joy.
But not one single coherent thought made it's way to his mind.
There was no room. Not with the thousands of emotions racing through
him. Overwhelming him. Fighting for control. Fact and
faith began a battle. Each side sparring with fierceness. Demanding
a death blow to be given to the other. For either rational
thought and disbelief to take control or unprecedented optimism and
eternal love to rule his actions.
That's when she turned. That's when her eyes shimmered with unshed tears
as they locked with his. That's when her lips moved
to form his name wiht a whisper. "Jax."
Fact drowned quickly in the rapid succession of the next crushing sensations of hope, longing, love…
Jax stood in the center of the darkened room in shock. Staring. Speechless.
He'd shut himself off from this part of his life for so
long that his mind was unable to believe the image before his eyes
was real. With seeing came a new wave of energy. A new
fountain of hope sprang forth and his heart screamed out with certainty
that the vision before his eyes couldn't be anything but
undeniably genuine.
It was her. The same silky hair. The liquid eyes of fire that he loved
to drown in. The soft, olive skin that he ached to caress.
The small frame that still haunted his secret dreams.
Once the thought claimed his mind, emotions thundered through him causing
every nerve in his body to spring alive. Every cell
was aching to reach out and feel the reality of this dream. To hear
her voice speak just one word to him would be heaven. To
feel her breath on his skin. Her kiss on his lips. To wrap his arms
around her and never let go was his only goal now. The only
thing that would make his life worth living now.
That's when he heard the voice. The voice that was responsible for bringing
such overpowering happiness and excruciating
anguish to him all in the same moment. The one that taunted him with
the ultimate prize by keeping her just out of his reach.
Behind an iron door and sound proof glass.
"So, Jax…" Helena Cassidine's smooth voice pulled Jax back to the harsh
reality of his choice reminding him that his particular
heaven came with a price. "What will it be? Do I spare Chloe's life?
Or Brenda's?"

~ chapter 2 ~
Time stood still as Helena's words echoed in his head. Brenda. Chloe. Brenda. Chloe.
Jax's blue-green eyes shifted to another iron door next to Brenda's
cell of imprisonment. Another soundproof window that gave
him a perfect view of yet another vision. Chloe.
Memory came rushing back to him suddenly. She had been the initial reason
he was standing here. Helena had kidnapped
Chloe out of revenge for Jax's double-cross. He had made a deal with
Helena. A night of passion for a lifetime of painless,
nightmare-free happiness with the woman he loved.
He reneged on the deal. Instead, Helena found herself bound and gagged
while Jax triumphantly held a vile of life-giving pills in
his hands. Now, Helena held the life…and death…of two women in hers.
Jax's eyes shifted to Brenda again. The woman he loved. The thought
bounced around in his brain. How could he watch her
die again? The first time had nearly been the death of him. He would
surely die this time. He couldn't do it. He couldn't be the
one to still the breath in her chest and make her heart stop its strong,
steady, beautiful rhythm…
A movement caught his eye and Jax's gaze rested once more on Chloe.
Being suddenly cognizant of his presence, Chloe rushed
to the window and peered out at him from the glass. Her eyes were wide
with fright and her lips were trembling as tears found
their way down her cheeks. Her fingers curled around the edge of the
window as she held on for strength and gazed at
him…her knight in shining armor.
She looked like a lost little girl. How he wanted to protect her. To
cover her so no harm could reach her. Her naivete and
innocence had been a refreshing shower in a life that had known so
much distrust and lies. He had wanted to keep her that way
forever. Maybe then he wouldn't have to live in the reality of such
a cruel world…
But reality couldn't be avoided forever. Neither could cruelty. Squaring
his shoulders, Jax's turned his icy gaze on the cruelest
person he had perhaps ever known. Hatred edged every word. "I will
never let you get away with this."
"Ah, but my dear boy…" Helena leaned forward and brushed her hand along
Jax's cheek as a devious smile danced on her lips.
"I already have…"
Jax pushed her hand away from his face, his jaw working furiously to
control the rage that was bubbling inside of him. "You
won't win this, Helena. For what you have done here, I want your head
on a silver platter. And I *will* have it. Even if it's the
last thing I do, I will hunt you down, cut you up into little pieces
and hand feed you to the sharks myself."
Helena threw her head back and let out an evil cackle. "This is why
I adore you, Jax. Even in the face of insurmountable odds,
you still think you can win."
"I *will* win." Jax stated as determination flashed in his steel blue eyes.
"Well, then. It sounds like you've made your choice." Helena eyes snapped
back to his face. "So tell me, luv. Who ever will it
be?"
Glancing first in Chloe's direction then locking eyes with Brenda, Jax
gambled all of their lives on a hunch. "Given the
circumstances, there's only one choice to make…"
