Wish Upon A Star (JB) Chapter 2

Okay, since I got soooo much feedback on this story and since I had a vacation day today I’m updating for everyone. Glad you’re all enjoying it.

“Ugh. “

Lois was so disgusted she almost didn’t take a second slice of pizza, but she was starved so she grabbed another slice anyway. She bit into it with relish and as the cheese dripped onto her chin she was rewarded with a laugh from Brenda. Brenda, Lois and their friend Chloe were sitting in Lois’s parents pizza place in Brooklyn after a particularly trying day of work. It wasn’t too crazy at the shop so Lois was lucky enough not to have to jump in to help wait tables. The new waitresses her mother had hired were holding their own in the sea of people who always came to Cerullo’s for dinner.

“I can’t believe Slummy gave the promotion to Hannah Bannana. “

Brenda just nodded and chewed thoughtfully on her pizza before taking a sip of her beer.

“Well, you know what I heard? “

Chloe leaned forward with a grin on her face. Brenda and Lois just laughed because if there was anybody who knew everything that happened at Jacks Brothers it was Chloe. She just had a way of getting people to talk to her. She even knew what Jerry and Jax looked like.

“Apparently the only reason Hannah got the promotion is because she’s been sleeping with Sonny. “

Brenda nearly choked on a piece of sausage.

“Are you serious? “

“Yup. “

“That’s disgusting. “

Lois rolled her eyes.

“He’s so…”

“Slimy? “

The beer was starting to work on her and Brenda started laughing.

“I’ve got an idea! Let’s do something fun. “

“And this isn’t fun? “

Lois said it through a mouthful of pizza.

“You’re nuts. “

“No, “

Chloe pulled out her purse and started digging through it. She came out with a notepad and three pens.

“What’s this? “

“We are going to make up Christmas Wish Lists! “

Brenda and Lois groaned.

“Oh come on. Aren’t we a little old for this Chloe? “

Chloe simply smiled.

“Nope, you’re never too old to dream. “

‘There’s no way…”

Brenda eyed the blank sheet of paper the way she would have eyed a pop quiz in high school.

“You don’t have to do it here. Fill it out at home and then we’ll bring it in to work tomorrow. It’ll be a hoot to see what we each wish for, and who knows they might come true. “

Chloe ducked under the table as she was bombarded with breadsticks. But Lois and Brenda were both thinking ahead. Wouldn’t it be lovely if wishes really could come true?

“Well? “

“Okay. “

Brenda and Lois both nodded their heads as Brenda shrugged into her jacket.

“Tomorrow morning then, in the break room. “

Tucking the piece of paper into her jacket pocket Brenda waved to Lois’s parents and headed out into the cold night. There was no way she was actually going to do this. Wishes just didn’t come true, even if it was Christmas.
