My first visit with the surgeon
September 30, 2002

Okay to say the least I was nervous and excited all at the same time.  It took two months to get my appointment and here I was sitting in the office with people who had the same hopes and dreams I had.  First I met with the surgical coordinator.  She was really nice, and she went over the basics.  The only really bad news was that I was going to be put on a 9 month waiting list...auugghhhh!!!!!  Then I went in to meet Dr Gadaleta.  He seemed like a really nice man, considering the fact that he is one of the most popular surgeons in NY state to do the surgery and has the best recommendations.  After waiting 20 min in the office I only sat with him for 15 min and out the door I was with a list of prelims I had to complete before setting a date.

Well Gratefully some of them were already done, and there was a lot I still had to do:   stress test, echocardiogram, eval from endocrinologist to rule out thyroid, eval from dietician, eval from psych, endoscopy, abdominal ultrasound, some weird cardio tests, a sleep study and a couple others I cant remember off the top of my head.  Well once I got most of these done I called the office and they gave me my surgery date.....7/16/03!!!  Can you believe this, it'll be almost a year since I saw him till I can have surgery.

Well I had a fit, I took the date but I went ahead and starting looking for a new surgeon.  I remembered that recepionist from my gastroenterologist office who did my endoscopy telling me that most of their patients come from another doctor in the area who does the same procedure.  i called them up and the doctor gave him a great recommendation,  he said he also does the endoscopy for post op and the patients do well and the surgeries a success.  So I called up Dr Vohra's office and tried to set up an appointment.  I was told I couldn't set up an appointment until after I went to a seminar, but that there was no surgical waiting list.  Not to mention his office is only one town over, talk about a blessing in disguise.

So here I am now January 3rd, 2003  and the seminar is January 23rd.  Keep your fingers crossed I get an appointment as soon as possible.
