Campus guidance and counseling staff are often the first to identify and offer direction to school and community support services.  They can help with school curriculum questions, individual planning for students, responsive services, and system support.  For more information, contact the counselor at your campus.

Denton I.S.D. Student Assistance Program

The Student Assistance Program is a school and community effort to support all students and their parents who have actual or or potential problems that interfere with their own education and safety.  The program works to develop and implement prevention and intervention efforts that target mental health and substance abuse problems within the schools.

Denton I.S.D. Social Work Services

The Denton I.S.D. Social Work Office acts as a liaison between school, home and the community.  By coordinating social services in Denton with other school support staff and community aganecies we address the diverse social, emotional, cultural and economic needs of the students and families referred.  Services include:

  • Information and Referral.
  • Crisis and support assistance to families and students.
  • Assistant with identifying resources for medial evaluation and treatment.
  • Assist families with school supplies and clothes.
  • Assist the Special Education department in addressing student needs.
  • Coordinate Homebound Programs.
  • Supervise Home Instruction Program for Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY).

Denton I.S.D. Health Services

Each Denton I.S.D. campus has a full-time registered nurse who contributes to the safety, health, and wellness of DISD students and employees.  Services provided include:

  • Injury/Illness assessment, care and referral
  • Medication administration and monitoring
  • Health Screenings (blood pressure, vision and hearing)
  • Classroom teaching (hygiene, child safety, CPR, first aid)
  • Student monitoring and special procedures (diabetes, seizure, oxygen)
  • Infection control/disease prevention

Denton I.S.D. Teens Taking Responsibility in Parenting Success (TTRIPS)

Childcare and transportation assistance, parenting education for pregnant and / or parent students in Denton I.S.D.  Goal is to continue in school to obtain a high school diploma and to attain job skills.

Denton I.S.D. Early Childhood Center

The Ann Windle School for Young Children has the following programs:

  • Pre-K:  Early childhood Special Education program (3-5 years).
  • Headstart (4-5 years).
  • HIPPY program (3-5 years)

Denton I.S.D. Therapist Pool

Denton I.S.D. uses private practitioners that have been engaged by the Student Assistance Program as a means of providing high quality, professional counseling services to families who desire help, but do not have the financial resources to pay for private services.  Referrals to the therapist pool must by made through he student assistance program (see above).
