Britney conquers one more time...Enrique Iglesias' "Hero" finally makes way for a new #1 after five weeks on top. The resulting new champion is Britney Spears, whose "I'm A Slave 4 U" marks her fifth visit to #1. The Neptunes-produced track is having a tough time breaking at Top 40 radio, but here, it's all about Britney this week. Her chart-toppers now include:
...Baby One More Time (1998) - 7 weeks at #1
Sometimes (1999) - 2 weeks at #1
(You Drive Me) Crazy (1999) - 4 weeks at #1
Oops!... I Did It Again (2000) - 5 weeks at #1
I'm A Slave 4 U (2001) - 1 week at #1 (so far)
Hey Baby!... This week's greatest gainer is "Hey Baby" by No Doubt. The lead single from the forthcoming "Rock Steady" just misses the top 20, but should land there next week. Also posting strong gains is Janet Jackson with "Son Of A Gun". The track should crack the top 10 next week.
Right on time... As "I'm Real" slips to #39 this week, Ja Rule delivers yet another collaboration, this time from his own album, and enters the chart at #36. "Always On Time", which features Ashanti, is remniscent of the J.Lo collaboration and should do well on the chart.
Coming Up... The Calling- "Wherever You Go", Five For Fighting- "Superman (It's Not Easy)", Evan & Jaron- "The Distance", Macy Gray- "Sexual Revolution", Mary J. Blige- "No More Drama" & Jennifer Lopez- "Ain't It Funny".
