SOMETIMES IT JUST HAPPENS... It seemed as if Britney Spears was going to have to settle for a no. 2 position with her second single "Sometimes", but this week, with a little luck, she manages to climb a notch to barely hit no. 1. The top three singles all loose chart points this week due mainly to newer titles climbing up the chart but at the end, Britney manages yet another no. 1 single making the Backstreet Boys move down after four weeks on top. Also notice that Britney's "...Baby One More Time" is still charting after 32 weeks which is makes her the record-holder for longevity.

UP & DOWN... As TLC's "No Scrubs" finally drops out of the top 10 after hanging in there for 19 weeks, the follow-up, "Unpretty", climbs four to land at no. 9. Eventhough this single is taking a bit more time than "No Scrubs" to make it to the top, I would think it'll be as succesful as its predecessor in the long run.

FINALLY!... Alanis Morissette is back on the chart with "So Pure", the third single from "Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie". I don't know what took the record company so long to release another single, but I'm glad they did and I'm glad it's this song. This is by far the best track on the album to me so it should be a big hit at least on this chart. Alanis had done great here with "Thank U", peaking at no. 1 for 5 weeks, but then "Unsent" was released and that kinda did pretty bad everywhere, including a no. 16 peak here. Good luck to Alanis with this new great single.
