CHART COMMENTARY

HE BARELY MADE IT... Enrique Iglesias scores his first no. 1 hit this week just by an inch. "Be With You" looses airplay this week but still manages to move past Britney's "Oops!... I Did It Again" and hold Matchbox 20's "Bent" in the runner-up position. It is unlikely that he'll remain on top next week, but still, the single does deserve top honors this week. The battle for no. 1 continues next week with "Bent" and 'N Sync's "It's Gonna Be Me", both trying to hit the summit of the chart.

MISS JANET IS BACK... Janet debuts this week at no. 21 with "Doesn't Really Matter", the first single from "The Nutty Professor 2" soundtrack. Janet has scored four no. 1 hits on the chart since 1997 and will try to tie Mariah Carey (with five no. 1 hits) to become the artist with most no. 1 hits since this chart was created in January 1997. Here's a recap of her chart performance through the years:

"Got 'Til It's Gone" (f/ Joni Mitchell & Q-Tip), no. 1 (8 wks), 1997
"Together Again", no. 1 (13 wks), 1997-1998
"I Get Lonely" (f/ BLACKstreet), no. 1 (5 wks), 1998
"Go Deep", no. 1 (5 wks), 1998
"Every Time", no. 2, 1998-1999
"Luv Me, Luv Me" (Shaggy f/ Janet), no. 7, 1999
"What's It Gonna Be?!" (Busta Rhymes f/ Janet), no. 2, 1999
"Girlfriend/Boyfriend" (w/ BLACKstreet), no. 6, 1999

COMING UP... Neve- "It's Over Now", Sisqo- "Incomplete", Hanson- "If Only", Pink "Most Girls", Aaliyah f/ DMX- "Come Back In One Piece" & A-Teens- "Dancing Queen".

For the week ending on June 17th, 2000.
