Chart Commentary

It was just a matter of time... We all knew it would happen, but maybe just not this fast. Australian mega-star Kylie Minogue sneaks up past Brandy and scores her first ever #1 hit with "Can't Get You Out Of My Head". The track, from the forthcoming album "Fever", jumps all the way from #6 to #1 leapfrogging over "What About Us?", which moves to #2. The margin between both titles is so small though, that any of them could be #1 next week. For now though, it's all about Kylie.

Shootin' up... This week's greatest gainer honor belongs to Enrique Iglesias' "Escape", which jumps eight spots to #20 in its third week on the chart. This is the follow-up to first single "Hero", which was a huge hit by peaking at #1 for five weeks and just recenlty dropping out of the top 40 after spending 22 weeks on the chart.

New entries... This week, Shakira returns with the second single from "Laundry Service" titled "Underneath Your Clothes". The track scores the highest debut by landing at #31, as (first single) "Whenever, Wherever" drops to #17. Other debuts include Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles" at #35 and Toya's "No Matta What (Party All Night)" at #36.

Coming up... P!nk- "Don't Let Me Get Me", Ashanti- "Foolish", Lenny Kravitz- "Stillness Of Heart", India.Arie- "Video", Glenn Lewis- "Don't You Forget It", City High- "City High Anthem" & Celine Dion- "A New Day Has Come".
