Linux From the day a friend of mine introduced me to Linux in the 2nd semester of B.Tech, my dream run with it is going on. This is the OS for the people and by the people(some people might like to substitute programmer instead of people). I started by installing Red Hat 6.2. As I am a slow starter, so after 3 full nights, I could see the login screen with my windows partition intact. Under the able guidance of my teacher, Dr. Ranjan Srivastav, I have learned a lot from Linux. He has inspired me a lot and I would be ever grateful to him. A little philosophy now. Many people I have met and those I have read, believe that if you are using Linux then you should be against windows. They expect you to keep ranting about windows and all that is associated with it. But please! I don't think so. Both these operating systems are nice in there own way. If windows is for user friendliness then Linux is for robustness, security (you might see the tilt though). But with its open-source code, Linux gives you the opportunity to learn a lot. |
