Silhouette

Look up my love
From your reclined pose
Within your darkened room
Look up and stare
Towards the lighted hall
And
tell me what you see
A manly figure there
A stark outline rimmed by glare
Does this sight now
Cause you some despair?
A shadowed man
In stark relief comes
Toward you now yet blinded
By dark you sit in
An object grows aside
Grasped firm in his hand
What it is you cant tell
Your breath it stops with too your heart
As a step he takes
Intruding on your room
Does it menace?
Will it cause you pain?
Is there somewhere you can run too
To escape this thing?
Does it mean to harm you?
Where did your slumber go?
Will you run from silence?
Where is there to go with panic struck?
Step and closer he is
No, to the bed you’re mired!
A flower comes
To caress your neck
Hall light now reveals a face
That’s welcome and familiar
Faint away in dead relief
And hide that chilly fear
Your mind has played a trick my dear
With shadows and with light
There’s nothing for to fear
That silhouette was I
