Fire Engines
Seagrave founder Frederic S. Seagrave had a son, W.E. Seagrave, who followed in his dad's footsteps, and also began building Seagrave fire engines, but at his own plant in Walkerville, Ontario, just across the border from the Detroit plant where Seagrave got its start. One of the more unusual early products of the W.E. Seagrave Company was this 65-foot water tower (above and below), completed late in 1904. It was delivered to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1905. This was the first water tower that Seagrave ever built.

Seagrave's first water tower, a 65-footer with triangular mast, was delivered to Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1905.
The Seagrave painter's log, the best surviving reference for Seagrave serial numbers and dates, lists only Seagrave apparatus made in the Columbus, OH, factory from 1906 to 1963. Because Winnipeg's water tower was made in Seagrave's factory at Walkerville (Windsor), Ontario, Canada, and was built before 1906, there is no surviving record to establish the serial number or the exact date of this water tower.
