Seagrave Horse-Drawn Fire Engines

Page 3: San Luis Obispo, CA, 1905 Chemical & Hose

San Luis Obispo (SLO), CA, is located along the Pacific coast, about halfway between Los Angeles and San Francisco. The SLO Fire Department still owns this 1905 Seagrave single-tank chemical and hose car, pulled by two horses. SLOFD has even built a special glass-walled room in their firehouse to display it. Here, this early Seagrave is shown at the California State Firefighters Association (CSFA) convention in Fresno, CA, on October 2, 1962. (Bob Foley photo)

Because surviving Seagrave records trace back only to the start of the factory painter's log in 1906, the serial number and exact date of this chemical wagon are unknown.
