| So just who is Benisato, anyway? She seems like an evil psychopath with a nasty way of dispensing snakes from her genitals. However, if we take the time to peel back the complicated petals of this deranged flower we see that she is...an evil psychopath with a nasty way of dispensing snakes from her genitals. Benisato's screen time is minimal and from what we learn about her during that time, she seems mighty sadistic and strange. Our first glimpse of Benisato is a striking one. She has gone looking for Tessai, another Devil of Kimon, and discovered his corpse. Tessai has managed to make an imprint of Jubei's face with his hand. Benisato is holding a sword disguised as a shamisen. She pulls the sword out of the neck of the musical instrument and stabs it into the cast of Jubei's face with a slight smile. Cut to the next scene. Jubei is taking a bath in a river while wearing his panties. He spits out and tooth and looks up to find a woman's naked back facing him. It is Benisato, with SUPER COOL TATTOOES that cover her back in an intricate serpent design. She tells Jubei that she's looking for someone that looks exaclty like him, while Jubei is suspicious and grabs his katana. The SUPER COOL TATTOOES begin to move on her skin to create real, live not super cool green snakes which she sends after Jubei. He easily defeats them and tries to force Benisato to tell where she came from and what her beef with him is. She sheds her skin and disapears before he can do anything to her. Benisato, scene three: Yurimaru the Pretty is sitting at his table thinking pretty Yurimaru thoughts with his back turned to Benisato, who is kneeling on the floor. There is quite a bit of tension between them, though Yurimaru manages to act nonchalant. Both of them have been sleeping with the leader of the Eight Devils of Kimon, Himuro Gemma, and are each fiercely jealous of the other. Yurimaru questions Benisato about why Jubei is not dead. Benisato claims that someone interfered. Yurimaru tosses a sexy wire her way as a threat. Benisato catches it around her hand and tells Yurimaru that she'll tell Gemma about the threat "in bed". Yurimaru says he doesn't mind and looks sexy, because he's Yurimaru. Jubei and Dakuan reach the area that the Devils are inhabiting and split up by accident. Jubei goes to a Buddist temple at the top of a hill because he hears chanting coming from inside. Sitting in front of the shrine is an old nun who tells Jubei that he'll never leave the village alive. Jubei attempts to kill the nun and instead watches as her body splits like a soggy paper bag to spill snakes all over the room. They are so numerous that he can't escape and is trapped. Benisato questions Jubei about how many are with him. He claims there's more than one for every snake in the room. Benisato laughs at him and calls him a liar. Jubei concedes that this is true and amends that there are two with him, the monk that she saw earlier, and Kagero the kunoichi, who appeared suddenly and without sound behind Benisato and placed her kogatana against Benisato's neck. Benisato is calm and creepy. She summons a snake, which crawls out of her hoohoo and bites Kagero on the leg. "You'll die soon," she says to Kagero. Kagero barely flinches and orders Benisato to call away all of the serpents. Benisato does so after Kagero draws blood with the kogatana. Kagero wants Benisato to talk about why the people in the village are dead and who she works for, but Benisato suddenly falls down on the ground in seizures. Yurimaru had strung a wire in her hair and had used his special lightning powers to electricute her before she could reveal any of the Devil's secrets. "A hopeless ameteur" he calls her and goes back to being his pretty self and his pretty table with the pretty candle and... So that's Benisato's story. She didn't do anything very wonderful and had absolutely no redeeming qualities. I don't know why Gemma wanted to sleep with her when he had Yurimaru around to be a ho. Because he thought the hoohoo snakes were kinky? I'll never know... |
