Icah Wilmot, coming off a 5th place showing at the 08 Makka Pro, along with team mates Ackeam Phillips and Luke Williams, made the trip to the eastern Caribbean island of Barbados to defend Jamaica's honor at the 2008 SUZUKI Soup Bowl Pro. Expectations were high for the top Jamaican Pro and he did not disappoint. Icah surfed strong all the way to the final passing many high ranking hopefuls enroute. At the final horn many were anticipating the win for the Jamaican wonder boy but unfortunately he fell prey to Lewis St John's air 360 on the buzzer.

Makka, one of Jamaica's premier surf beaches and home to Jamaica's first international surf contest the "MAKKA PRO", is in danger of being destroyed along with two other surf breaks by a mining project being proposed by Jamaica Pre-Mix. The project involves the excavation of  millions of tons of aggregate from the sea bed  at and around the yallahs river mouth and the construction of a deep water loading peir  for  ships. The project would also involve the pumping of millions of gallons of "mud", washed from the aggregate, back into the sea causing "severe" turbidity, endangering the reefs, and making the water pretty dirty at three of Saint Thomas' best breaks. We are calling on every one to assist us e-mail us

JAMAICA 10th IN THE PANAMERICAS
Jamaica participated in the VIII Pan American Surfing Games held in Iquique Chile from November 4th to the 11th 2007. Jamaica had not participated at the last renewal of the Games in 2005 and as such were relegated 17th at the bottom of the rankings. The team which consisted of Billy Wilmot and Eugene Miller in the longboard division, Imani Wilmot and Elim Beckford in the Womens division and Luke Williams, Ishack, Inilek and Icah Wilmot in the Open and Scott Murray in the men's Bodyboard division, was the largest team ever fielded to the games by Jamaica. As a result, Jamaica climbed up the regional ranks and finished in 10th place, the best finish ever at the Games. Best performances were achieved by Icah Wilmot who finished 29th in the open and Eneson Lightbourn finishing 31st in the juniors.
