IINILEK AND DANIELLE TOP 4TH OPEN AT LIGHTHOUSE the fourth event in the 5 event 2007 National Open Series was held at the Lighthouse surfing beach on 8 December 2007. 29 surfers registered for the event which saw competition in both men's and women's divisions. Conditions were perfect with head high waves and a slight off shore wind. The 5 heats in the first round of the men's division cut the field in half for the second round which further reduced the field to the top 9 for round 3. Next the womens final was run and the 4 ladies Danielle Ohayon, Imani Wilmot, Esther and Elim beckford, paddled out. The wind began to pick up and the conditions deteriorated as the heat progressed. The ladies were hard pressed to find good waves though they did manage to ride 20 waves between them. Heat 1 had young Shane Simmons, Inilek Wilmot, Icah Wilmot, Lloyd Jacks and Eneson Lightbourn all looking for a place in the final. 27 waves were ridden and when the scores were tallied Shane grabbed first with Inilek second and Icah third all advancing to the final. The second semi was a 4 man challenge for the 2 remaining places in the final. Ishack Wilmot, Luke Williams, Ackeam Phillips and Michael Panton faced off and caught 17 waves between them. Ishack and Luke dominated the heat and went on to the final. The stage was set for a scintilating final with Jamaica's top ranked surfers in classic Lighthouse waves. 26 waves were ridden with each ride bringing loud cheers from the beach. Inilek put on a brilliant display of quick snappy surfing which found favour with the judges. Luke bagged the wave of the day, a super hollow right which he dropped into from the back door and screamed across the reef much to the delight of the on-lookers. Young Shane was not to be outdone as he slashed and shredded the south coast break with a confidence that belied his tender years and delighted the north coast crew on hand to witness the performance. Icah who was haunted with equipment problems when he broke his board struggled to find the right waves and had to be playing catchup the whole heat. Ishack was not much luckier and neded a set wave to boost him into contention that never came his way.. As the heat closed Inilek nabbed a sweet left which took him down the beach and gained the nod from the judging pannel.
