Vulching is generally defined as strafing or bombing aircraft on the ground, and not allowing aircraft to get in the air before you launch your attack. Most consider the first turn or firing of guns to be the point of acceptable engagement. This the general rule and usually in effect at an open melee. Be sure to comply with the rules of engagement at a server. Sometimes a mutually agreed upon vulch-fest can be a hoot but make sure it IS mutually agreed on and not irritating others. Sometimes, in team target games there are also special rules as to which aircraft may bomb and what acceptable targets are (especially in the case of aerodromes). To fly with honor, make sure you find out what rules in effect are, and if you are not sure, before you get frustrated or make others upset, PLEASE ASK!
We are all here to have some fun, so fun is the key word here. Keeping the enjoyment in the game is our top priority. No one wants to play a game when there is no fun in it. You can make it fun by helping others as well as treating them as you would want to be treated. At the least you'll make Mom proud.
This squad command is far from a strict, but we do have senior members who have earned their rank through dedication and skill, so when given an order, try to respect and follow it when possible.
Although we know that real life takes priority over gaming, participating in the activity you sign up for should also be on the list. Flying with your squad mates not only improves your flying skills, it also allows you to observe their strengths and weaknesses. This allows you to be a more effective teammate. Also, it's a great way to get to know others and maybe build friendships. If you aren't looking for friends, the single player version of Red Baron should fill your need for flying without all that messy communication with real people. ;-)
We are a German squadron, so knowing the aircraft you will be assigned to fly could save your butt in a dogfight, but being informed on what your enemy's aircraft can do is also important. Get to know your Hun crates first and then see what the competition's machines are capable of. Knowing your enemy also means knowing their machinery that carries them into battle.
If you act in an honorable way, others will respect you. Although this can be difficult some times, try to rise above someone who is attempting to start a verbal conflict. Any problems can be, and should be, handled in a civilized manner.
If you would like, you also may become a member of the Vulch Patrol, allowing you to add
VP after your handle, please visit the excellent Psycho Circus 69 web site for more information.
Any RULES AND CONDUCT ISSUES should be brought to the attention of your assigned flight leader. They will bring it to the attention of the senior staff is needed.
These GUIDELINES are intended to encourage fun, comradery, and participation. We should always strive for good sportsmanship conduct. You will not only be a representatives of the Jasta 9, but also of the game of Red Baron. Your actions could gain or loose players in the Red Baron Community.
