An opportunity affords me now of sending you a few lines We are all well in health thank God mother finily improving as winter comes along Winter is coming very favourably this season. Maria is appointed Teacher in place of Mrs Honor’s(?) at 10 Dollars per Month she is to commence on Monday next intends to board in John’s but he will not board her under 4 dollars per month we think rather much when we see your board and washing for 5. We are expecting you down on Saturday but if not convenient you ought not to put any thing out of your way for being over anxious (Maria’s case is a warning) We are getting along pretty well chopping going on progressively. I do not know how you will approve of us getting a hog from Mason weighed 200 We thought to get 100 cwt but could not make it out. I saw nothing about the Canadian Church man Since if you are coming down Maria would wish you would bring her such books a you think answerable for her. She has none.
Lemuel Andrewson is almost dieing of a hurt. Esey(?) had a most miraculous delivery from drowning. She fell into her well head foremost turned & came up without any assistance. John her Brother is at home he gave Aunt 9 Dollars in my presence. I suppose Anthony sent you no money yet I must apply soon to him for a load of hay he is the same rambling fellow. James Black is going down below you stage driving he is the bearer of this note. I send you the Sligo Chronicle.
I am expecting when the snow comes to get house logs drawn let me know do you approve of it. John is mending his book midling(?) now got a grist of flour made since you were down in favour with ale our neighbours for so far if you do not come down soon (I espect to write to M.(?) He soon) to lend(?) and enclosure but do not fear I will write this time before you send. I will wait your convenience. Fanny expects to spend Christmas out in the Bush how much more comfortable than last God be praised. Oh we do not know or estimate our blessings they are powered down abundantly on us.
