To the Right Honourable Premier, History has always told us to fear the communists. I know it seems like I am always writing about the impending threat from communism, but bear with me here. In 1858, the colonial government decided that the threat from the commies, albeit reflected from our european overlords, was real enough to bring about the construction of 2 forts here in South Australia, at Largs and Glanville - a third, Glenelg, was never built. Why were these forts built? They predated known sightings of aliens, and we never had to worry about attacks from indians and cannibals. So why did we fort up? I'll tell you why. Simply, the goverment of the day was fully aware of the impending communist threat, and up until the time the forts were handed over to the Commonwealth upon Federation, not one known incidence of communism had reached the colony. Not one. It's a simple enough lesson, with an extremely valid basis. Fort = no commies, relative safety, fefence against seaborne invasion. No fort = commies aplenty, no safety and the constant fear of pirate raids and the French. So to rectify this we need to reactivate the fort. I know there are those who say the damage is done and we should let it be already, and others of you are telling me to stop living in the past, and still others of you are referring to me as the new McCarthy, but the facts are there. The Federal Government has a special responsibility to protect the people of Adelaide, and indeed the rest of Australia from outside threats to its citizenry. This should be prioritised above all else. Forget roads, hospitals and education - they can all wait. Communism shakes the very foundations of our modern society, and our forefathers would be spinning in their graves like a ferris wheel on steroids if they knew what was going on. The forts were exceptional at preventing the spread of communism, and once they were closed it was quite simple for communist sympathisers to get across our borders and into the state. The only way to prevent the rot spreading further is to reactivate Fort Glanville and stock it with the latest cannon and troops. Else we lose society as we know it to the red menace. Make no mistake the threat from international communism is real. Its always out there. When the revolution comes, remember! you heard it here first. I eagerly await your response.
