~ Annabelle and Smokey ~

Meet Annabelle and Smokey!

Since Whiskers has been gone our house seems so empty. I've been watching the vet's office to see what they had for adoption. There are so many cats that need a good home and the vet has had several of them there for months just waiting for someone to take them home. Whiskers had been a stray who found his way to Mindy who lovingly took him in and got him all ready for adoption just a few years ago. Annabelle did the same thing. She is about 2 years old and found Mindy who brought her in early this winter, and she has been sitting at the vet's office patiently waiting for a family. I decided she would be perfect for our family and decided to bring her home for Easter. She has the cutest little mustache and is a complete lap cat. Mindy called the week of Easter to let us know that a small apartment in town had been raided and 15 cats and kittens had been brought in that they needed to find homes for. She thought there might be one that the kids would like. Megan and I went up there again and she fell in love with a little gray kitten who was about 4 months old, so the adopted sign went up on Smokey's cage. I picked them up Saturday morning and ~tried~ to hide them until Sunday morning to surprise the kids, but both the boys saw them peaking through a window. They believed my story that we were fostering them for the weekend so were pretty surprised on Sunday morning!

Jonathan really likes having cats in the house again. So much so that I even got him to look at the camera for a picture. I think this is the only picture I have of his face this year!

And Bryan. So far no allergy problems! I can't tell you how nervous I was about that, especially with it being spring and high allergy season! He helps Megan rock Smokey in the doll crib and the two of them carry that poor little kitten everywhere.

Poor Smokey. A moment of piece while Bryan is at school and Megan is taking a nap. The little guy has about 1 hour a day when he's not being chased, carried or dressed up in doll clothes. He's quite a little trooper!

Here's Smokey in the Easter Basket.
