11/10/02 the day I saw a tornado form in my backyard (literally)
The 10 TV Eyewitness News Van at Mosiers IGA (where I work) in Raymond, Ohio. I just needed to finish out my roll of film lol
A house that was severely damaged (about 2 miles from my house)
Debris in a field (this area is where the F4 strength tornado touched down)
More debris and the remains of a house I think (same area as above)
It took down one of those freaking huge electric towers (just north of York Center, Ohio)
A downed electric pole (right next to that severely damaged house)
After the tornado went through, it rained really hard for hours and hours, which then caused flooding (just outside of Raymond, Ohio)
there was a lot of lightning after the tornado went through, so Laura decided that she was going to try to get a picture of some, this is the only one she got, which is actually pretty good, that means she has lightning quick reflexes haha (my house)
More debris (same area as above)
A severely damaged house (west of York Center, Ohio)

First let me just say that the one that formed in my backyard (basically, it was actually the field right next to my house...close enough) was just one out of about 6 or 7 that formed in the area near and around Raymond and York Center, Ohio. The big F4 strength tornado was about 4 miles from my house.  It destroyed 6 homes (I think) and injured 2 people.  Also as you saw above one of the tornados took down one of those huge steel electric towers that carry the cables that give thousands of people around here electricity. I heard on the news that something like 7000 people around here had no electricity. I know we didnt in my house for 36 hours.  It also snapped electric poles like twigs at the end of my road.  We (as in my family) wouldnt have known a thing was going on if the electricity hadnt had gone off.  We knew obviously that there was a tornado watch, but that was about it.  Then I just happened to be standing next to the kitchen window and saw that the clouds were really dark.  Dad was out there too, and I said to him, just as calm as ever, "hmm, those clouds look a little freaky"  then he peeked out the window and was like "um...yeah they do" with this kind of concerned look on his face. Then we went to the back porch, opened the door and looked out into the field kind of adjacent to our house, and this little white funnel cloud touched down in the field. I wish I couldve gotten a picture of it, but I was just too like "holy crap thats a freaking tornado" to even think about grabbing my camera. We just stood there and watched it (it was far enough away that it wasnt going to get us, obviously if it wouldve turned or something we wouldve took off)  After it disipated (ooh ah) we went outside and looked around and saw the sherrif and a bunch of fire trucks heading towards the end of my road, and also towards York Center (both of which are about 2 miles from my house). Later that night we were watching the news on our battery operated TV, and there was a reporter in Raymond.  Thats always a bit strange, seeing a reporter standing in your tiny dinky hometown lol. Well thats all I can think to write about this subject, if you have any questions about it just ask me.
