February 2002 - December 2002
February 14, 2002 It appears that Jason has turned the corner on his eating. He now eats all day long. He no longer chokes or throws up. This is absolutely monumental. He is so happy and proud of himself. He is now more secure and is spending up to an hour by himself at the babysitter's. He even stayed with me for 20 minutes while Felice made dinner. After dinner, Zach and Jason played for 15 minutes in the living room while Felice and I both cleaned up dinner. 15 minutes by ourselves!! Amazing what we get excited about!!! More soon - Rob
March 25,2002: Jason's eating has continued to improve. You should see his face light up when you ask him if he wants Papa's eggs (papa's chickens' of course). He loves hard-boiled yolks. He eats everything that you put in front of him and he is so happy. We are still keeping him on the allergy diet. I have even been able to get him to where a bib. Jason has 3/4 molars and now the last molar is coming through as are all 4eye teeth. He is staying for up to 2 hours at the babysitter. He also really has his good times with his dad. He loves rough and tumble play. His sitting is very stable and he can lower himself to the ground and roll all over the place. He is always getting into trouble (tearing and eating tssues, wipes, book...). He loves kitchens and any old cupboards and drawers. You would not believe how his standing has improved. He can stand for short periods while holding onto things. We had cardiology last week and everything is fine, no changes. The GI doc is very impressed and Jason is weighing in at 20 lb, 4 1`/2 ounces.
April 13, 2002Jason is standing. He actually has leg muscles. He will stand by himself holding onto a toy and he is finally attempting steps when held without having to push his legs forward. We ate dinner out today for the second time with the boys. It was pretty nice- chinese buffet. Jason ate like a champ and had a great time. Jason now weighs over 21 pounds. Jason is still into Thomas the Tank Engine. Zachary is into Princes again and Captains (Pocahotas, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and Snow White)- capes and swords.
May 6, 2002 We are all enjoying the beautiful weather. Jason was out doing his favorite thing today- 4-wheeling. He just loves to be outdoors. The next best thing is doing anything that Zachary is doing or likes to do, not excluding picking dandelions. Jason rolls from room to room getting into as much trouble as he can. He is getting much more comfortable with other people, especially Miya who he makes a habit of laughing at. We are pretty sure that every once in awhile, he sneaks a name or word in- Zach, Miya, apple, computer, Jora.. He eats everything in site, including ladybugs. Zachary helps Jason get into trouble and they love to aggravate us by wrestling. Zach has a new ward under his care at Miya's, a little black kitty (1 of 9) at Miya's which Zachary has named "American". American spends a lot of time on Zachary's shoulder learning about the world. Zachary enjoys Papa's new hottub.
June 21,2002 Jason is very happy; Miya and Papa bought another 4-wheeler so now he does not have to share his with Zachary. We have had a very busy week. GI clinic on Monday- uneventful. Cardiac appointment on Wednesday. Everything looks the same. They will do a sedated echo in the fall and then start thinking about a pre-Fontan cath. Thursday was developmental clinic. They were so pleased with his progress that they don't want to see him for a year. The nurse practitioner could not believe how much he is eating. He weighed in at 21 lb 12 oz..Jason is beginning to belly crawl. He will stand at furniture when you put him there. He is starting to sit up on his own more and more. Words are still coming sporadically- Elmo, no, zooma. We put Jason in a walker the other day in K-mart to try it (MIya needed one for her house). He succeeded in convincing me that once he really starts walking, he probably won't set foot in a store again until he is old enough to drive himself there. What a terror. We went to go see Thomas the Tank Engine in Strasburg- a wonderful time was had by all and both boys picked up some new Thomas trinkets. Zachary is now a Power Ranger most of the time. He prefers the red one so all his blue clothes are now obsolete.
July 4, 2002- Happy 4th everyone. Well, Rob gave us a little scare last week end, but all his tests came out fine. He has a follow-up appointment on Monday. He was in the hosp[ital for cardiac arrythmia and tachycardia. They want him to take a baby aspirin everyday. We went to Darien Lake and had a great time. Zach went on the new turbobungy which is 3 minutes on a trampoline with a harness on connected to bungies. He jumped really high. Jason loves the merry-go-round and surprisingly enough was really into the fireworks. Jason is still demanding 4-wheeLer ridessregularly and Zach is anxiously awaiting the completion of his Power Ranger costume by MIa. He is back to blue again. I have to start thinking about the boys birthday.
August 25,2002 The boys had a great birthday party with a jumping tent and horseback rides for everyone. It was a good time. The family went to the rodeo a few weeks ago and had a good time too. Jason sat through the whole first half pretty well. We now have our own chickens, a mommy and her 3 teen-agers Jason is ok with them for short moments, but Zach is really into them. Rob has been busy at work, but has been ok. Jason had an appointment with the geneticist, but we have not heard anythin gyet. Now- last , but definitely not least- the GOOD NEWS- Jason is walking along the couch a few steps and very proud of himself too..
2 buck opening day, a 6 and 8 point. They got 6 deer total. deer meat anyone? October 18, 2002 The boys enjoyed the rest of the summer, with Six Flags being their favorite place to go. Jason loves the rides and people and charms everyone. Zach likes to turbo bungy. Now they are anxiously awaiting Halloween.
Zach is not sure what he is going to be, some power ranger or spiderman and Jason is sooo excited about being McDonald's french fries. Jason had an echo a few weeks ago and everything looked good. We are waiting to hear the results of their surgiocal conference. He constantly wants to walk and stand.
Nov.24, 2000 Quick update. Things are pretty good-BUSY. Jason is doing well. He is now standing all the time. He can just about get up to standing by himself and loves to cruise around the furniture. Zach
is the most amazing colorer for a boy his age (unbiased opinion), just ask his grandmothers. Zach was aZeo ranger for Halloween and jason was McD's french fries if you did not see the pictures. Tomorrow we are all going to
see Bear in the Big Blue House. The boys are very excited. Zach is going to wear a buttion shirt and tie (his new dress up phase) and Jason is wearing his new bear sweat suit. Have a Happy Thanksgiving.. Rob shot 2
