Biography of Jason N. Brown, Tenor

A fine lyric tenor, Jason began his career at the age of fifteen with the Southernaires Choir, which has received highest awards under the direction of Joy Caesar, Conductor. Brown formally began vocal training under the tutelage of Professor Jessel Murray, University of the West Indies (Trinidad campus). Jason later went on to win and earn honors in competitions, and from such institutions as Trinidad’s biennial Music Festival, San Fernando Arts Festival, and The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music among others. By age seventeen, his performance portfolio included the honor of singing for two sitting Presidents and one Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago. As a scholar student at Medgar Evers College, he also performed with the Imani Singers; the College’s chorus in which he served as student conductor for two semesters.

While receiving private vocal instructions from distinguished tenor, Gregory Hopkins, Jason again amassed a wealth of musical experience. He has served as tenor soloist for: Symphony Saintpaulia, the Family Mass Choir, Harlem Opera Theater, Theater of the Living Word, Fine Arts Singers of New York, Unique Choral Society, the Chancel Choirs of Siloam Presbyterian Church and the Episcopal Church of Saint Luke and Saint Matthew, to name a few.
