| Please share the cause of World War I. Please explain the role of imperialism, nationalism, militarism, and alliances. Do these tensions exist in the world today? Explain. Imperialim - The idea that the bigger could take over smaller and weaker countries led to a race to see who could conquer the most countries, which cause many wars. Nationalism - The conquered countries desired not to be controlled by another government, which caused them to revolt against their leaders. Militarism - Militarism glorified war, and military power was a symbol of national prestige, which caused an arms race leading into the war. Alliances - Many alliances were formed and pulled countries into war, which cause unfriendly relationships between enemy countries. These tensions exist in the world today. For example, there is the Northern Ireland conflict and there is a nuclear race including every powerful country in the world |
