a.                  Yuan Shikai was a man whom Sun Yixian hoped would restore order and create a strong central government.  He had other ideas though, and he tried to set up a new ruling dynasty with himself as emperor.

h.                  The Japanese set up a puppet government in Nanjing.  This former nationalist capital had killing and brutality accompanying enty into the city which became known as the �rape of Nanjing

government did not do much for the people, and they didn�t have much say in anything.
