Yes,
I know the summer is only half over but it's time to hit the road, the big avenue of American promise and get back to responsibility in California. However, I'll be taking a month to get back so I have plenty of promise left.
Not much has happened the last couple of weeks since coming back from my trip because I haven't had any $$$$ but I DID finish editing my novel which is exciting. It needs one more full revision and then I think I have something. Look out for that in the spring to be completed and also this fall I'll be starting work on my second novel tentatively entitled "One or the Other".
But here's what has happened:
*Beaches Jazz Festival--Queen Street East, aka The Beaches, has an annual get together where they close down the street to cars for a long week for about 2 miles and on both sides, about two a block, jazz bands play all night. There is unbelievable amounts of people walking up and down and at one point someone handed me a pocket=size New Testament. I didn't realize I looked unsaved on the outside too...
*My second article was published last weekend on the Pocono Mountains. I'm happy with the story and it will look good on my writing resume, one that has only recently begun to take shape. Let's hope it will start bulging soon.
*Savage Garden-a friend of a friend is touring as a back up singer for this band and I saw a poster they were coming through to Toronto so I emailed her and lo and behold she had two tickets at will call for me and my cousin. They were ninth row and she got us backstage passes and afterwards we ate rockstar fruit and veggies and played video games and eventually got to meet everyone in the band. It was quite an evening.
There are tidbits here and there but nothing to get your blood pressure going crazy like before... but here's what on tap now:
Leaving tomorrow, August 9th for White River Junction, Vermont. There is a hostel there that will let me stay there for a week, and pay me some money to paint a chimney and two bathrooms. I'm excited and looking forward to the new experiences. After that:
*Stroudsburg, PA Aug 18-22th
*Bluemont, VA August 22th (outside DC)
*Galax, VA August 23rd (SW Virginia)
*open night, might be southern Kentucky, northern Georgia, eastern Tennessee. Inquire if you're intrigued
*Murfreesboro, TN August 25/26th
*Marble Falls, AR August 27
*Oklahoma City, OK August 28/29th
*Wichita Falls, TX August 30th/31st/Sept. 1st
*Cedar Crest, NM September 2nd (outside Albuquerque)
*Flagstaff, AZ September 3/4/5th and then home to Southern California on the Sixth for a wedding of a good buddy.
If anyone of you live along this path or in these towns and I haven't emailed you already, please get in touch with me, let's hang out for a bit. There is flexibility in the trip but I do need to be home by the Sixth so while I'm thankful, running a hostel in the Buffalo National River area in Arkansas isn't going to work into my plan. But thanks, though.
Well, that's it, an easy one for you folks today. Get back to me, let me know what's going on with you and if you want to meet up. So CA. folks, "be ready" for me, I"ll be back and ready to get it on and catch up on the summer soooooooo until then,
Que Le Vaya Bien - Spanish equivalent of "Take it Easy"
