9 April 2004 ---JOURNAL ENTRY THIRTY-TWO---
Wow, another five weeks since last writing. Things are moving relatively fast for me, I guess, such is life.
I just got back last night at 12:40am from Berlin. It was my third time there and there were 6 of us from Freiburg there. My friend Nora had her birthday on Tuesday at the end of a small internship and we all thought it was a great excuse to go to this world city
...and I have the next 3+ days off because of Easter, just the perfect way to come home from a holiday. I took 5 rolls of film there, starting at 5:30am when the beginning of our 14-hour journey to Berlin was underway to last night when our friend Lisa was with her pig pillow on the fast train home.
My fourth novel, Schwarzfahren, should be done by my 30th birthday which is only 45 days away. I think I might start a countdown of sorts, wow, I'll be the big 30 in a month and a half and what do I have to show for it? I am about to have completed my fourth novel, am currently making a living as an English teacher, and it gives me such a life that encompasses mid-week trips to Berlin and Fridays off. I've been living in Europe for almost exactly 15 months and my German is coming along nicely. I might actually fluent in it someday.
And Corrie Conklin, aka Cloggie, made it to Germany to visit me! I'm so happy, she is the sixth person but only third excursion (mom, dad, kc, chris, russ, and corrie) to visit me here. We had a blast and brought our friendship even closer. Email her at: [email protected] and ask her how her trip to Freiburg went!
The next 19 days I'm going to try and not spend too much money to gear up for a couple of more trips coming up, namely April 28 to May 2 in Padua, Italy and then Rome from May 13-17, not to mention the Ukraine on June 3rd. Can you see this? I'm the luckiest SOB in the world. I was also in Strasbourg, France a few weeks ago. I plan to have a little "museum room" in my house someday, with pictures and souvenirs and oddities from trips I've been on. I have a lot of love to give, I hope you're all happy and enjoying yourselves. You only gets one chance, don't be forgettin' dat! peace
