Waitress

Waitress is a sweet little movie about Jenna (Kerri Russell), a waitress in a small town that gets knocked up by her abusive husband whom she hates. Jenna does not want the baby (don’t worry, the movie doesn’t even mention the “A” word) but deals with it dreaming up delicious pie recipes and building on new and old relationships with her fellow waitresses and the Dr. in town.

This movie is sweet. It has a nice little message in it and has a great performance from Andy Griffith. The tragedy of this movie is that writer/director/actress of the movie, Adrienne Shelly, was killed by a construction worker in her neighborhood before the movie had its final cut. This movie is a nice legacy for her. Did I love it? No. I liked it. I think my mom would like it. It’s got a few laughs and a pretty good story. It also made me want to go home and bake a pie.
