Another threequal for the summer. Is it as disappointing as the others? I saw this movie in a packed out movie theater where people were dressed up and cheering and yelling. And while I think for the most part these people are complete shotguns, it was a pretty fun atmosphere. So what’s the third installment of PoaC about? I’m really not sure. They have to get Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) back from the dead. Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) has to save his father. Elizabeth (Kiera Knightley…Jenga!) wants to…has to…I don’t know, just look hot I guess! There is quite a bit of pirate violence. Cannons fire, people stab each other in the back, eyeballs fall out, people fall in love and it all costs and makes about a billion dollars.

Ok, so I didn’t quite understand it all but I’m not sure that I cared. The effects in PotC: AWE are awesome. They make Spider Man look like a cartoon. The action sequences are great. The scene with the two pirate ships in a whirlpool firing back and forth was amazing. Of course it’s all over the top but it’s Jerry Bruckheimer (producer) what do you expect? I really think it was the best of the three but I also think I was swayed a bit with the excitement from the crowd. It was a heck of a ride, just slightly better than the real ride it is based on at Disney World.
