Everything about this poem is true, and I don't plan on reading it many times in the future, you'll see why.  For full effect I suggest reading it slow, letting the voice in your head read it to you, as if savoring it's own memories.
I Feel Like A Kid Again                       By Jason Johnston

When I walk with Mother Earth
I feel like a kid again
When, to a sunrise, the East gives birth
I feel like a kid again

Watching the stars, in a dark country sky
I feel like a kid again
And the sun in the West as it dies
I feel like a kid again

When I hear my mother sing
I feel like a kid again
When I see a wild horse grazing
I feel like a kid again

When I'm watching a storm
I feel like a kid again
On an empty beach, the day so warm
I feel like a kid again

When I see a hand slide from under my bed
I feel like a kid again
It touches my foot, cold, slimy, and dead
And I feel like a kid again

When I feel ridiculous
I feel like a kid again
But now I must lie awake, I must
Cause I feel like a kid again

When I yearn for my parents' room
I feel like a kid again
I could run, but it could too
And it makes me feel like a kid again

Too scared to think I drop to the floor
And I'm a scared little kid, once again
I hear it growl when I reach their door
And I cry, like a kid again

But I've made it in, all is well
And I'm a content little kid again
Curled up by their bed, into my sleep I fell
Where I dream of one day being older, again

I don't run to my parents' room, no.  But I always go back to my childhood in my mind and remember those times of emotional work-outs, going from pure happiness in the day-time to pure terror at night.
Because every day is important.
