Jason graduated from Watertown High School in 2002 and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Connecticut State University in May 2007 with a Bachelors of Science in Education.
The summer of 2005 he worked with
Foodshare (the greater Hartford area Foodbank) in the educational outreach
program and there he wrote and illustrated a children's coloring and activity
book that is in the process of getting published. The goal of the book is to
bring awareness of the issue of hunger and encourage children to get involved.
He visited and spoke at elementary schools and Sunday schools and explained the
work Foodshare does and how individuals could help fight hunger. He also helped
coordinate the Foodshare art contest, which is open to all students in the
greater Hartford area.
The spring of 2006 he interned at
the American School for the Deaf and working with the elementary art classes.
He develops and implements lessons in the classroom to engage student
involvement and uses sign language and a variety of instructional approaches to
create positive learning experiences for all students.
The summer of 2006 he worked with
A Christian Ministry in the National Park where he organized and led Sunday
worship services within Elkmont National Park of the Great Smoky Mountains. He
researched, prepared and delivered sermons and formed relationships with
individuals within and surrounding the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. He
responded to requests for assistance during emergencies and crises and referred
people to community support services.
He completed his student teaching at Buckley Elementary School in Manchester, CT and Sports Medical Science Academy in Hartford, CT. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Central Connecticut State University in May of 2007. He will continue his education at Wake Forest Divinity School where he will begin his preparation for the ministry.
