Dracula on Broadway

Scene 5 Lucy's bedroom evening, Day 7

I JUST WANT YOU TO KNOW

LUCY

I see your smile across a crowded room.

I turn for fear that my feelings might show.

Such times we might have had, the hours we could have shared,

days filled with love and laughter, if I only had dared.

Is it possible that my defiance,

hides my passion for this mans reliance?

If only I could have the courage to say, what I'm longing to say.

I love you, and I want you to know.

I need you but I can't let it show.

Oh, my heart is so impatient with time.

I hunger for the day you will be mine.

To touch you is my greatest desire.

To feel you, share our passion and fire.

Oh, how my heart yearns to be able to show.

I love you, and I want you to know.

JACK

I sense your eyes across a crowded room.

You seem to smile, I don't know what to say.

Why do you feel so close, yet so far away?

Why can't I find the words which fill my poor heart today?

I can not deny this any longer.

All the while, my heart grows ever stronger.

I know my future lies in you hearing the words that I'm longing to say.

I love you with my whole aching heart.

I want you and I have from the start.

Oh, my soul sings for our lives to entwine.

I need you and can not wait until your mine.

A new life will begin when with you.

Our two worlds will become one that's new.

Oh, how my heart burns with a passionate glow.

I love you and I want you to know.

LUCY JACK

You alone were meant to be mine. Since we met my life's not been the same.

We will be together for ever. You whisper, and I don't know my name.

When I'm close beside you I'm safe, Sweet music fills my head when you're near

there's nothing I fear.

In my heart I know, your the one, it's all so clear . An angel, from above has brought you here.

BOTH

I love you to the depths of my soul.

This love is not a thing I control.

Oh, but if only these few words could I say.

I love you.

I love you.

I love you, and I want you to know.

Now I need you to know.

How I do love you so.

DARK GIFT

LUCY

Can you soothe my fever?

DRACULA

I will soothe your fever.

LUCY

Can you fill my hunger?

DRACULA

I will fill your hunger....

[As he circles the room, Dracula senses the presence of the cross; he cannot approach near the bed. He gestures to Lucy that she must remove the cross from the bed. As she takes the cross, it burns her hand; she drops it with a cry. LUCY goes to him, he presses her hand to his lips.]

DRACULA

Living breath, dragon's blood shrouds your soul, do you feel it?

LUCY

I feel you.

DRACULA

Clutching tight round your heart, drowning thought,

choking life as you breathe it.

LUCY

Yes, yes, yes

[Dracula bares his fangs, bites Lucy on the neck. Lucy collapses to the floor. Dracula

draws the dagger from his cloak and slowly cuts his chest. Lucy licks his blood

. Dracula presses a kiss to his fingers, places it on her lips.]

DRACULA

Do you thirst? Does the fever cloud your mind

From the first, you were destined to be mine, you know

My blood has brought you to your fait

LUCY

I taste Your fire in my veins

No choice now remains

It will burn forevermore

In my heart, I realize what's true

Now I share your darkest gift,

I have become a part of you.

DRACULA

Can you taste my blood

Hot upon your lips

You will pay for this evermore...

LUCY

I have shared your darkest gift, I have become a part of you.

[Dracula leaves her and laughs. LUCY convulses, screaming.]

I CAN HEAR THE WOLVES

LUCY

What have you done to me?!!

Grisly poison curse my veins

Wretched be my grave

Wicked burn a blaze from hell

Rip me open, damn my soul

I can hear the wolves

Singing Satan's sweet refrain

I can hear them call

I can hear the wolves

I can hear them call

I can hear the wolves

Screaming nightmare steal my breath

Murder on my lips

Savoring the taste of blood

Chilling howl before the kill

I can hear the wolves

Cry a lust for blasphemy

I can hear them call

I can hear the wolves

I can hear them

I can hear the wolves.

[Lucy crawls back to her bed, wipes blood from her mouth. Jack enters, laden with equipment and books. He notices Lucy. The room in disarray and the french doors open.]
