Grand entrance ... Posh and Becks, in Samurai-style outfit, arrive at the pre-World Cup bash

A HOST of A-list stars scoffed sushi and sank sake yesterday as David and Victoria Beckham threw the bash of the year. Posh and Becks blew £350,000 on the Japanese-themed party to give the England soccer team a rousing send-off to the World Cup, being staged in the Far East. Their Beckingham Palace mansion in Hertfordshire was turned into an outpost of the Orient as:

GEISHA girls wearing kimonos bearing the St George cross welcomed guests with champagne. A JAPANESE garden was laid out in the grounds, complete with bamboo plants, grasses and 60,000 imported orchids. THE menu included lots of other Eastern dishes such as beef satay, Thai salmon salad, crispy duck and seaweed.

ORIENTAL lanterns were hung in four marquees. SHAVEN-headed Buddhist monks arrived in orange robes, and BECKS, 27, turned out in Samurai-style gear including a black frock coat and red sash. Victoria, 28, settled for a £15,000 Ricci Burns dress and long leather coat. The 400 guests paid £3,000 each to attend the white-tie do, which together with a charity auction raised close to £1MILLION for the NSPCC.

Many were ferried to Beck Pal from a nearby country club in a fleet of sleek new people carriers. Others came by limo. And Harrods boss Mohamed Fayed dropped in by helicopter bearing gifts for the Beckhams. Guests from the world of showbiz included Joan Collins, Cilla Black, Sir Elton John, Ant and Dec, Graham Norton, Ben Elton, Lulu and Angus Deayton.

Drum and bass star Goldie was there, along with Dani Behr, Dale Winton and TV chef Jamie Oliver. There were performances by opera singer Russell Watson, soul diva Beverley Knight, R&B trio Mis-Teeq and Becks’ favourite radio DJs the Dreem Team. England’s Swedish coach Sven Goran Eriksson and his girlfriend Nancy Dell’Olio chatted to the footie aces who will carry our World Cup hopes.

Hop star ... Gary Neville

Becks’ best pal, crocked Man United team-mate Gary Neville, hobbled around on crutches. Soccer legends Gary Lineker and George Best were joined by the entire 1966 World Cup-winning England team — apart from the late Bobby Moore. The Beckhams hired 50 private guards and 60 off-duty coppers to keep a tight grip on security — and a no-fly zone was declared over the mansion.

The extravaganza was filmed by ITV1, who will screen it next Sunday.

Pregnant Posh and teetotal Becks steered clear of the buckets of champagne on offer.

Victoria’s dad Tony Adams said: “They stuck to orange juice but had a great time anyway.”
