Utica 2004
* All photos taken 2/22/04.
Part of the city of Utica, taken from our room window on the 9th floor at the Hotel Utica. Utica is a big residential area, except for the business district in the Genesee Street area(where our hotel was). Sadly, the district is not as populated with businesses as it once was-many have moved or closed altogether.
More of Utica, looking to the South. That tall building on the left is the New York State Office Building at Utica. The diagonal road is Genesee Street.
**6/26/04- See Below.
That's Genesee Street in downtown Utica. (Genesee Street is sort of like Utica's Main Street.). Genesee Street heads North towards the Thruway (I-90) at Exit 31 off the Thruway, and has an exit for it up ahead, hence this sign.
Interesting painting on a building on Genesee Street in downtown Utica.
We're on our way home to Long Island now. This is some nice scenery along I-90 (Thruway mainline) Eastbound , in either Herkimer or Montgomery counties. More spectacular views are found to the South of here on I-88.
BGS along I-90 (Thruway mainline) Eastbound in Schenectady county. This is for exit 26 (I-890, NY 5, NY 5S), and leads to the downtown Schenectady area. The weather was changing- it was getting warmer and sunnier as we got closer to home.
BGS along I-90 (Thruway mainline) Eastbound at Exit 25A. (I-88 West, NY 7) I-88 heads Westbound to Howes Cave, Cooperstown, Oneonta, and ultimately Binghamton and the I-81 corridor. Again, some spectacular scenery can be found along I-88.
**6/26/04- Geocities screwed up two of the photos on this page (that's why they're gone) and won't let me upload anything else. If I figure this out, I'll update again.
BGS along I-90 (Thruway mainline) Eastbound in Albany county. This is for Exit 24 (I-87 North, I-90 East). This exit leads to downtown Albany (NY State Capitol), Saratoga Springs, the Adirondack Mountains area, Plattsburgh (NY) and ultimately Montreal, Quebec. The I-90 they are talking about is NYSDOT-maintained free I-90 through downtown Albany. If you continue on the Thruway mainline (it becomes I-87 South after this exit), the NY Thruway's Berkshire Spur (I-90) (NYSTA Maintained) will branch off from the Thruway mainline (I-87) and head ultimately towards Boston, MA as the Massachusetts Turnpike (MASS PIKE). From here, the Thruway mainline continues South as I-87 to New York City.
More photos to come!!
