- ALL, THE
- The All are a collection of artefacts created by the Cleric's people they served to links colonists on hundreds of different worlds by imprinting the memories and goals of each colonist that it came in contact with.
- ALPHA CENTURION
- Roman Marcus Aelius was called the Lion of Rome by Emperor Hadrian. He was the most successful warrior in Rome so when an alien race, the Virmiru, arrived and offered to exchange representatives he was the one chosen. Schooled in combat and the use of Virmiru technology he returned to Earth two thousand years later to take up his pace as Earths protector. Upon entry into Earth's atmosphere he encountered Superman and Lois Lane. While he had never met them they remembered him from a different timeline where he called himself Alpha Centurion. Taking the name he took up his place as one of Earth's defenders.
For a time Alpha Centurion worked with Lex Corp while it was being controlled by Contessa and helped set up an extension of the Team Luthor group. He departed from them when their dishonourable intentions were revealed. Moving to Washington he discovered the truth about his Virmiru that they were using him as a scout for their own invasion force. This forced him to break off contact with them and prepare for their arrival. Since then he had fought along side Earths heroes against the Sun Eater and as part of the Superman Rescue Squad. In both cases his starship the Pax Romana has proved a valuable assist.
- AMBUSH BUG
- Ahem! Didn't even know this character was still in continuity. I mean Ambush Bug!!! And what in the name of Metron is he doing in 12th millenium and Hong Kong of all places! Has anybody told the Linear Men? Hunter is really going to like this! "Excuse me he Hunter, you remember the problem with the Substitute Heroes and the Earth-One Superman in the 30th century? Well the cause has been sited going the wrong way in time... What do you mean it's not your department? ... Yes I will hold... ... ... ... ... Ah hello Mr Ryder. Yes, it's about Irwin R. Schwab... hello? ... HELLO? (is that sobbing I can hear?).*click*" I can't believe that the Linear Men hung up on me! Never had his problem with the Guardians!

- The blind daughter of columnist Dirk Armstrong. She befriended Scorn when he escaped from the Bottle City of Kandor. They have become good friends despite her father's initial hatred/fear of Scorn. He has repeatedly saved her and has even taken her back to visit Kandor where she revealled the identity of Hank Henshaw (aka Cyborg II) who was trying to win use the City as a base for his plans.
- ARMSTRONG, DIRK
- A conservative columnist for the Daily Planet. His was out spoken of the chaos that Superman caused during his recent transformation. His blind daughter, Ashbury, is currently dating Scorn. Dirk was one of the few reporters retained by Luthor when he bought out the Daily Planet and converted it into LexCom.
- ATOM SMASHER I
- Original identity used by Manfred Mota in his battles with the Flash Dynasty. See Flash M* for more details.
- ATOMIC SKULL
- i) Movie series. The Atomic Skull was a science fiction movie series produced by National Film Studios. The main storyline was of how the hero Joe Martin, the Atomic Skull, fought his enemy Dr Electron. The Atomic Skull would fight the Rocket Man who was a minion of Electron and the fiancee of the Skull's love interest (Zelda). The series would have remained a hidden classic if it had not been for the tragic events that followed.
ii) Supervillain. A student called Joseph Martin became enamoured with the hero who he shared him name. When the Dominators detonated their Gene Bomb it showed Martin had the metagene. When he was on the receiving end of a massive energy discharge it activated the metagene transforming him into a likeness of his hero (transparent flesh and skin). Mentally unhinged he now believes himself to be the Atomic Skull from the movie series. He relives the series by fixating on an element and playing out the story (e.g. he once saw Lois as Zelda and battled Superman thinking that he was Rocket Man).
- AWKWARDMAN
- Son of Mr Night and The Mermaid from the Freedom Brigade, he joined other second generation heroes to from the Inferior Five. Quite strong, possibly blind and certainly slow.
