Brooksville is a beautiful little town, nestled in the midst of seven hills.  There are magnificient victorian homes located on streets that are still the original brick streets of old.  It is kind of quiet and scenic here.  I love it, I have lived here for over 45 years.  I walked some of these streets to school everyday.  I remember when my sister and I would go to Murphys, Bacons, or Hopes Drug store and get Ice cream and read the comic books....lol.  We went to the Library and joined the summer library reading club every year.  Everybody knew everybody back then and you couldn't get away with anything....lol...but it was fun trying
There is a lot of fishing, boating, water sports and picnicing.  Hernando County has a lot of american heritage to visit and many places to hike, camp and visit.  We are close to Orlando and Tampa and all the amusement parks.
I also have a link up in the beginning, that will take you to a place where you can find more information on the whole state as far as being a visitor.  We are kind of proud of our state, even if we can't make voting machines that work.  hahaha

BROOKSVILLE, FLORIDA
HERNANDO CO.
To the left is the Hernando Heritage Museum, a wonder relic of days gone by.  There are three story's to this old southern home and each floor is decorated in a time period.  On the third floor is the original telephone operators desk with a list of all the original phone numbers in Brooksville, I found my grandparents number listed on that desk...lol  During the year, there are different celebrations at the Museum.  Heritage Day, Mothers Day, Halloween, Christmas, just to name a few.
This is a wonderful place to visit, Roger's Christmas House.  It has many beautiful and unusual things about christmas.  This is the main house and there are two others behind it.  You can spend a lot of time there before you realize it.  I visited the Christmas house last year and had a blast looking at all the stuff.
Every year they have the Brooksville Raid.  It is one of the best renactments of the Civil War in the state of Florida.  We went one year to see it and it is really interesting.
These are some of the different beaches and fishing areas in Hernando County. Some of them have picnic and camping areas, and hiking trails.
